For my 2021 Ram Laramie 1500 the Auto Park engages on its on at random times. This has happened to me twice in the last 2 moths. No doors have been open and any passenger in the car has the seat belt engaged. Once it happened when no one but me was in the vehicle, the second time was with my family in the car. Fortunately it has only happened while leaving the neighbor hood and going less than 25 MPH. Each time, this happens, the AutoPark has been engaged and the light above D is flashing. While this is a neat safety feature it shouldn't happen while I'm driving and belted in.
This has happened 3 times at low speed 2-4 mph. I was making a right hand turn and the truck stalled & shut off. Information on the dash told me to put it into park. I stopped & put it into park. The emergency brake automatically engaged. After disengaging the emergency brake, I started my truck up. No issues once I started it back up & resumed driving. It happened twice at a traffic circle in my neighborhood & once as I was turning right at a light. Thank goodness no one was behind me or it would have possibly caused a rear end collision. This issue has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center.
2021 Dodge Ram Big Horn purchased at Golling Chrysler in Michigan, you know the auto capital of America. It has been in the shop four or five times in the past year (well over 30 days in shop) for the identical problem, slams on brakes for no reason - I named my truck, -??death trap-??! This problem has occurred on at least seven occasions and my dealer representative admonishes me for being annoyed with them that they can-??t find the problem, since in their words, -??it only happened seven times-??. You might wonder why it-??s been named death trap" Well, when your truck is driving normally, and then it stops, slams on the brakes, practically gives you whiplash, your chest is squeezed by the seat belt, and you-??re stranded in the middle of an intersection or an entrance on a multi lane highway, or out of a parking lot, and you have no way to make it go until you have to sit for two or three minutes pushing buttons resetting restarting, its earned the name -??death trap-??. I am one of many many owners with this identical problem. Golling Chrysler seems to think it-??s OK to keep sending me home in a death trap. Workers have mocked me, insulted me, and endangered me. I had to resort to calling Chrysler Corporation and now I have a case!!?. Didn-??t take long, within five minutes of telling my story to the Chrysler representative my case was put into escalation mode and they actually used the word -??buyback-??. What are they going to do after they buy it back from me, sell it to some poor other victim that won-??t know the difference" Chrysler time to admit, uncover, and rectify this problem before my death trap and those others out there actually cause a fatal accident. Listen to your customers and read all the complaints on this site that are exactly the same as mine. Better yet, take my truck, give it to your spouse, child or someone you love and then see how you feel about a truck that slams on the brakes for no known reason! I-??m tired of being a sitting duck in this death trap!
WHILE DRIVING ON A ROAD GOING APROX 20 TO 25MPH MY TRUCK STALLED. IT SAID THEIR WAS AN ERROR SHIFTED TO PARK AUTOMATICALLY AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. i HAD TO SHUT THE VEHCILE OFF TO GET IT TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. IF I WERE ON AN EXPRESSTWAY OR TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED I COULD HAVE HAD A ACCIDENT OR IT MAY CAUSE ME TO GET REAR ENDED.
Within first mile of operation within neighborhood while accelerating through away from stop sign executing a left hand turn traveling below 15 mph the vehicle stalls. Truck immediately automatically engages parking brake forcing sudden stop. Issue has occurred intermittently at least once a month since purchase. Vehicle is not set for auto emergency braking. This issue is a significant safety issue for anyone on roads.

We came to a stop sign. Went to press the gas to proceed into the road with on coming traffic. The truck started to accelerate and then the engine cut off. The emergency braking system was engaged and the dash light reflected that. After a few seconds we were able to restart the truck. Luckily just before we were hit by other vehicles since we were left in the middle of a busy road with morning traffic in both directions. I do not feel safe driving this truck. I quickly googled the issue and found many other threads of complaints with the same issue. Please do the research on this before people are killed!
I almost died, when my truck stalled as I was entering a major thoroughfare. This primarily has to do with the auto start/stop option on my Ram, which if you do not come to a complete stop, and attempt to accelerate with this feature on, the vehicle stalls. This has happened to me several times, and if you go on the online forums it is happening to many other Ram drivers, it is a serious safety issue, as you have no control over the stall due to the computer. Basically, when I am coming to a stop and then accelerate with the vehicle at a slow crawl, 2-3 MHP, the truck stalls. Imagine rolling through a yield sign and your vehicle stalling, with oncoming traffic headed your way, serious safety issue. Extremely lucky to not have been involved in a crash with oncoming traffic headed my way going 55 MPH, I was able to stay in the yield lane.
As I-??m preparing to turn on the road the vehicle turns off and leaves me stranded in the middle of the roadway. The parking brake comes on and messages appear on the dash. This has happened multiple times with and without passengers in the vehicle. I-??ve reported it to Lithia Ram Jeep in Calallen and was brushed off. I-??ve taken pictures of the dash on a few occasions when it occurred. I am the first owner and it happened with less than 3-5 k miles.
Vehicle has shut off on me a total of 7 time on me while driving since I purchased on Jan 2 2021. The first time this happened was about 2 weeks after I bought the truck. Each time has been about the same conditions. While driving at low speeds -??around 5 mph-?? my truck automatically shut itself off. At this point it automatically engages the emergency brake. I then have to put shifter back in park, put my foot back on the brake to restart my truck then turn off the emergency brake. At this point I am able to shift back to drive and go. Two of the times this happened I was in a high traffic area where I almost got rear-ended. My vehicle does not throw out any codes and the dealership has not been able to duplicate. First time I took it to the dealer they had it for about 2 or 3 days. The second time they had it for 3 1/2 weeks. The 3rd time I took it in to a different dealer and they said they came across a bulletin somewhere that said the needed to change out the MGU, which they replaced yesterday. Hopefully this fixes the issue. A vehicle shutting down randomly is very dangerous. I have been reading a lot of forums and this seems to be a common problem that needs to get fixed or recalled somehow. The date and mileage on the next section are from the last time this happened. But like I said earlier this has been happening since early January 2021.
When starting to accelerate after turning at low speed, my 2021 RAM 1500 with the E-Torque engine will shut-off and the emergency brake will engage. A message will appear that says -??Park brake engaged, press brake and push to release.-?? Truck has 5150 miles on it. This has occurred two different times while entering highway traffic. Very alarming as I-??m sure you can imagine. The first time it happened I was on a lightly traveled road and was alone. Then today (1/9/22), It happened again, but this time on a much busier highway and my family was with me and we were almost rear ended. Not a fun experience and potentially deadly. After researching online, particularly on RAM owner-??s website and forums I have found this to be a common complaint among RAM owners. They take vehicle to dealers and the dealers can-??t replicate the incident and so they tell customers they can-??t help them if it doesn-??t happen when technicians drive the truck, yet they send customers away with a potentially deadly vehicle. I am getting an appointment with local dealer tomorrow but I expect the same answer. I sincerely urge the NHTSA to address this dangerous situation with Chrysler-RAM before serious injury or death occurs in these vehicles. Hopefully NHTSA can get RAM to acknowledge this situation and get something done before injuries or deaths occur. Maybe they will address this with a federal agency. They certainly haven-??t with their customers. Thank you for your advocacy for the safety of the American people.
2021 Ram 1500 Laramie crew cab with the Hemi etorque has 10k miles. Today traveling at approximately 35 mph I slowed to yield at a round about but did not reach a complete stop, as I went to go my truck went forward into a very busy round about and the engine shut off completely. I stalled, rolling into a 2 lane roundabout on a busy road, fearful for my life. Center screen stated to place vehicle in park before starting. I placed my flashers on and mid panic attack managed to think enough to restart the engine. I placed the shifter dial into Park and restarted without any issue. The emergency brake had become engaged at this time. I was able to release that and safely exit the roundabout. I did cause a backup and was left in a potentially lethal situation. Very very scary. No issues after this. Had my husband check truck when I got home, no error codes detected. I do not know if it is related but I do on occasion feel like there is issue with the auto start/stop feature -??sticking or hiccuping-?? when I do not come to a complete stop (our area had many round abouts)
When attempting to make a turn on a back street after a partial rolling stop the vehicle stalled out. The engine cut off and I was fortunate enough to be able to coast to the side of the ride without harming anyone else. The vehicle automatically applied hazard lights, engaged the parking brake once I came to a complete stop, and signaled for me to "push to start" the vehicle again. Prior to that occurring no warning signs were given that the vehicle was having any issues. I was able to restart the truck but this is the 2nd time something like this has occurred since owning this brand new vehicle. This created a potentially hazardous situation as the people behind me had no warning and if I were to cut out into a busy street I would have been hit. I'm fearful of this happening in a busy area while with my family. The dealership/manufacturer has not looked at this vehicle since the incident. I am scheduled to bring it in next weekend.
Unknown Failure causing issue. Vehicle's Engine Shutoff while traveling down the road with no warning messages. Then message says to apply breaks and push "start", but it was in the "Run" and still coasting in Drive on the road. After it slowed to about 5-10 mph, the emergency break system engaged and the vehicle went to "Park" causing the vehicle to throw me forward in the seat and objects were thrown as if I had collided with something. My wrist was injured by this, but lucky I had no passengers or my dog with me. The local dealership is looking into it, but say there is nothing wrong. Upon doing some research, I see multiple people have stated this has happened to them as well. This is a significant risk to health and safety of vehicle occupants and other vehicles that may be traveling near them when this happens. Depending on speed it occurs, the outcome could result in death. I did attempt to connect my on-board diagnostic/monitoring system and found that the manufacturer has it block so I cannot see any possible codes or sensor readings of the vehicle. Then they say nothing is wrong when you take it to them to scan. That is also unacceptable.
My new truck has less than 500 miles on it, and it was just purchased new last month. This incident has happened to me twice so far on the mornings of 10/31/2021 and 11/7/2021. Making a slow left hand turn, the vehicle turned off and and stopped in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle emergency brake also automatically was set when it stalled. The message on the dash said something like to restart, put foot on brake and push start button. This incident was very dangerous and could have resulted in an accident. I am lucky I was not hit in the intersection. In both cases, this occurred about a mile from my home and my initial trip of the day. Temperature outside was normal about 60 degrees. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer for 11/9/2021
On several occasions since purchase of a new 2021 RAM 1500 the backup camera has failed to work when in reverse. A black screen is displayed. Repeated efforts to turn the backup camera on by putting the vehicle in reverse or selecting the backup camera from the control panel resulted in a black screen. Repeated efforts to turn the vehicle off and on several times consecutively had the same result. I also tried opening and closing the tail gate with no positive result.
While making a left hand turn at approximately 5-9mph, my engine turned off. I braked the vehicle to a stop and the Emergency break then automatically haulted the vehicle to a stop. Once stoped the dash read -??press brake and push button to start-??. The dash then read -??park brake auto engaged press brake +push switch to release-??. I then pressed brake and pushed switch to turn off E-brake. The screen then read -??Safe-hold temporarily disabled-?? I then turned the truck on and the dash read -??auto park disabled-??. To sum up, the truck is auto parking while I am driving down the road. This occurred today (11-03-2021) at 9:50AM. Two times within 1 week this has happened. Beginning to occur more and more frequently. Has happened several times in the past and the dealership told me there-??s nothing they can do because they can-??t duplicate the issue. Ram will charge me for any further service appointments regarding the issue. Major safety concern. Video footage of incident available if requested.
04-19-21, 05-18-21, 07-05-21, 09-19-21, 10-06-21, 10-30-21. Engine shuts off while making a right hand turn at approximately 10-15 mph. Emergency flashers automatically turn on, "Shift to P to start" appears on dash. I then brake to come to a complete stop. The truck then converts its-self from "Drive" to "Park" and engages the emergency brake. "Press brake and push button to start appears on dash". I press brake and push button to start vehicle. Vehicle then turns on and I disengage Emergency break. I then put truck in drive and turn off flashers. Dash then says "Autopark disabled" and I continue on. This has happened on all of the above dates. I was nearly rear ended when it occurred on 09-19-2021. I have video footage of two of the occurrences. Took truck to dealership on the following dates regarding issue: 04-29-21(3,232 mi.), 05-27-21 (4,227 mi.), 06-11-20, 07-08-2021(6,295 mi). Chrysler service department said the issue must have been a "glitch" and could never duplicate the problem. Got a letter in the mail from Ram in July stating that I would have to begin paying for the inspections regarding the issue since receiving the letter. Have not taken it to the dealership since then. *** Other Issues *** -Can-??t use park assist because brakes randomly lock up when backing out of my driveway or parking spots angled at a slope. -Truck quit honking when pressing lock button on 10-16-2021 -?" took to Dealership on 10-23-2021 issue resolved -Truck failed to shift on interstate- quit accelerating and revved up to 6,000 RPMS -?" 10-29-2021 -Truck would not accelerate at stop light 11-02-2021 and then tires spun out when it finally did accelerate.
While driving and making a right turn low speed 10 mph to 20 mph.. the car completely shuts off on me.. happened 2x within 2000 miles of each other. No engine codes or anything. I pull over to the side and put in park and car turns back on. Major safety issue if it happens during high traffic. Others are reporting the same issue with this vehicle and dealer cannot replicate the issue and give the car back and it happens again.
