I HAVE A 4 DOOR TRUCK AND THERE IS SELDOM ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT TO NOTICE ANY WATER INTRUSION WHEN IT OCCURS. SOME TIME AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE BACK SEAT WAS WET, BUT THOUGHT THAT I MUST HAVE HAD THE SLIDING GLASS WINDOW PARTIALLY OPENED.
BUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A RARE RAINSTORM HERE IN TEXAS, I NOTICED A DRIP. THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION WAS TO DRAPE A TOWEL OVER THE BACK SEAT TO ABSORB AND EVAPORATE ANY WATER THAT LEAKED THROUGH. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY IMMEDEATLY POINTED OUT THE CRACKS IN THE TOP OF THE WINDOW FRAME, BUT SINCE IT NOW HAS OVER 70K MILES ON IT, SO THEY WON'T COVER IT WITH THE WARRANTY.
THIS IS A BUNCH OF BS, BECAUSE THEY SENT OUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO THE DEALERSHIPS IN APRIL OF 2021 WITH A RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE FAULTY WINDOW ASSEMBLY. IF THIS WAS SO IMPORTANT THAT THEY FELT THE NECESSSITY TO INFORM THE DEALERS, WHY DID THEY THEY NOT ALSO INFORM THE OWNERS OF THE POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES. ESPECIALY IN MY CASE, WHERE THERE IS RARELY ANYONE RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT AND WE DON'T GET A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF RAIN TO IDENTIFY A LEAK WHEN IT DOES OCCUR.
