When driving at any time day or night, I will be at stop sign or stop and the truck will make an high rate of noise and I look at the dashboard and notice just out the blue the truck will be in 1st gear manual. This has happen 4-5 times. I took it the dealership and they said they fixed it and 2 weeks later, bingo. I was at a stop and the light turned green and gave it gas and look down - the truck is in 1st gear. Dealership thinks I'm crazy so I started to record when it happens. I contacted my sales persons and made a few if you &()(*(, and now they want me to bring it in. But they don't want to give me loaner. This started before I had 36K and at 35K with the service manager listening to my complains and blowing me off. Now I have 57K with the same issues 1st gear.

Transmission gets stuck in first gear. Leaves one in a paralyzing situation with the dealership not being able to fix the problem. This has happened 6X's. Getting ready to file an arbitration with the dealership to get a resolve to this situation. Bought the truck to stay out of the dealership with recalls. This has been a total nightmare. The only resolve to the first gear paralyzing situation is to put the truck in neutral and pull off the road, re-engage the truck and then the truck gets it's memory back to run down the road. Chrysler and the dealership can't come to terms as to what to do. Chrysler had the truck for 3 days, ran tests and sent the vehicle home with us, without a resolve. I see another complaint on this site. Totally discouraged, but moving forward with a ghost problem, that in the State of FL falls under the Lemon Law. We paid with good faith $ and there wasn't a problem cashing the check, now the problem falls on us. Driver/Owner of this truck is a Disabled Veteran. Anyone out there wanting to help, please assist us out of this unfortunate situation. Tired of going to the dealership, that's why we bought the vehicle, to stay out of dealership.

1500 Laramie Longhorn 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 975 miles

Drove home October13th 2019 in new Ram Laramie Longhorn, very pleased with my new truck. Now with 2,120 miles on the truck, not quite five weeks later I am concerned I've got a problem. On five different occasions the vehicle would not shift out of first gear. In each case I was stopped at a stop sign or red light and making a left turn. Upon starting up and turning the transmission remained in first gear, motor revving 4,000 - 4,500 RPM or so, until I realized I had a problem. I lifted my foot off the accelerator and let the truck slow down, it was still in first gear, almost came to a full stop, tried to slowly accelerate but still no shift. I brought the truck to a full stop, then slowly accelerated again, still no shift out of first gear. I again came to a full stop, this time put the selector knob into Park, then back into Drive mode and accelerated and the transmission worked fine.

After the first four episodes I called the dealership and took the truck in the same day. First thing the service rep did is check for a OBD code, no code was generated. Dealership had it for four days and could not replicate the problem. Since I've had the truck back one more episode has occurred. Now I'm not sure where to turn. Also, one other thing should mention every time this happened it was at night, fortunately I was not in heavy traffic or this could have been a serious safety issue.
