Apparently Dodge has known about this problem for many years and has done nothing to help. No recall.... Why would you put a plastic oil filter housing on top of an engine? They really should do a recall on this crap and resolve this issue. How can they get away with this?
Ram has serious problems with the engine oil filter housing cracking and leaking oil and or coolant on a 3.6L v6. It's such a huge problem, the replacement parts are sold out everywhere. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler vehicle.
I thought I had a major leak at only around 30k miles, turns out it was due to a "sloppy oil change job" from the dealership... those words came from the same dealership from the service writer, oh and I guess these rams have a constant issue with the oil filter leaking...
Update from Jun 12, 2019: update- now at 36K miles and decided to change my own oil becase of the last experience, so I found out why these "rams have a constant issues with the oil filter leaking" and that is because the oil filter is in a kind of hard to reach area and tighting it would require some additional force! Simple they just are rushing to complete the job asap and take no time for the small details!
