The Truck was purchased and when I got it home i pulled the dipstick and it was bone dry. I ended up putting 4 quarts of oil. I then drove it down the interstate and less than two days later I was driving to my doctor's office and the check engine light came on and it limped to the parking lot where I shut it down and started it back up and it was back to normal. I drove to the Dodge/Ram dealer in Cartersville, Ga. the pulled codes and found that it was low 4 more quarts which i put it 4 days earlier.
I read online when I got it back home that this engine seems to drink oil as well as gas. I decided since its out of warranty to add STP oil treatment to boost the oil pressure as when idling its like 12-20 Psi. Thats really low for most engines. I read on a Ram truck site that this engine has had some serious issues and is in just about every vehicle FCA makes. They need to go back to the drawing board and bring back the 3.7L it was much more dependable and less likely to drink oil.
