jumps when starting from a stop
Alright guys, I want it clear that i think the Ram is one bad ass truck. My wife says its a sexy thing. i'm a MOPAR lover and just had to get this thing. Every thing is good until the truck reached 17,000 miles on it and then it started the bumping from the transmission. It was like somebody hit me from the back. This got worse as time went on. I took it to the dealer ship had it checked out. They said it sometimes will happens that the truck is still breaking in. They reset the transmission to relearn driving patterns. I leave the dealer and go on my mary way. didnt even make it home which was 30 min away. Started doing it again. But was told to give it a couple of weeks to relearn my driving habits. Well weeks past and it bumps every time I start from a stop. Back to the service dept I go. I talk to the mechanic who just happens to have the same truck I do. He has the same problem. And another mechanic also has a Ram with same issues. They tell me chrysler is aware of this problem and says there is nothing wrong with the 8 speed trans that its working as advertized. WHAT??? I'm not happy. Ok Lets cut to the chase. Look guys I've been a aircraft mechanic for many years and know how the system works. They tell me it cant be fixed. They've had over two years to fix this problem since 2014. Well i take the truck to another dealer. I meet the mechanic and the service manager who just happens to own the same truck as me. He told me about all the fixes he has tried, replace the drive shaft three times and relearn processes. Chrysler told him to stop fixing it. Well i'm getting more angry and disappointed. I'm told Chrysler is finding a fix. A year later and many stops to the dealer service center. I get a call from my service manager and tells me to bring the truck in they may have found a fix. I'm happy. Chrysler says to pull the trans oil pan and look for metal shavings other than whats normal. They find shavings. Chrysler says replace trans. GOOD . So I thought. get my truck back after a week. NOTHING has changed. I'm fired up. Its worse. They don't know what to do. I paid over 40k for this truck and to have to drive it like this. Shame on you chrylser for letting your loyal customer down. I'm not alone. you are losing a lot of Ram customers that I know that would rather have a Chevy or Ford. Everybody tells me, Hey that a nice truck. I tell them beware if you are thinking about getting one. I've rambled long enough. My wife and I are putting this truck in as a LEMON.
Oh and buy the way. Chrysler is not doing anything about the problem because not enough people are putting in claims for this problem. After three to four tries at service departments, go ahead and put in for lemon law. Don't waste your time trying to fix it. Its a DEFECT. That Chevy is looking pretty good. I deserve better. I'm a 22 year Navy war vet and I served as a Police Officer in Virginia. Chrysler, I'm ashamed of how you back up your trucks. Never again. Thank you for your time guys, hope this helps. Russ
