The contact stated while driving 75 MPH and attempting to accelerate while changing lanes, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and was unable to accelerate properly to keep up with the flow of traffic. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway and turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the failure persisted, and the vehicle was unable to accelerate above 30 MPH. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the tone ring, informing the contact that the magnetic material separated from the tone ring, resulting in poor vehicle timing and fuel injection. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The VIN was included in the recall but had already been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 77,000.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the recall because the vehicle was missing an EGR. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the high-pressure fuel Pump (HPFP) was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer, Capital Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Indian Trail (5501 W Hwy 74, Monroe, NC 28110), who inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the EGR system had been removed. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and later informed the contact the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel), 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) or 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) because the EGR system was missing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
