Aem update caused vehicle to perform in an unsafe manner. Hesitates upon acceleration from stop. Transmission shifts irregular and no longer slows vehicle downhill. During acceleration motor can redline and cause a rapid deceleration. Never sure exactly what is going to happen when pressing the fuel pedal. Never sure if it will safely go when it is supposed to. Fuel economy is also reduced from 28 mpg to 25 mpg. It is now a scary vehicle to drive. Was in right lane eastbound on highway 152 going over pacheo pass behind slow truck traffic at approximately 30 mph. When attempting to accelerate while changing lanes the motor went to redline and depowered. I quickly had to brake and get back in the right lane behind the truck traffic. The vehicle had never done anything like that in the 4-1/2 years prior to the aem. They ruined my truck with the modifications, it is a major safety issue when the truck shuts off power when accelerating.

The vehicle was moving down the road as I'm driving the truck just looses all power cuts off and I have to jerk it to side of the road to be towed to dealership. It's the tone wheel for crankshaft and crank shaft position sensor. And when taken to dealership they have no parts to fix my trucks and I was given a case worker with fca or Dodge and they can't get the parts it's been 3 months.

My vehicle lost power and was unable to drive while driving on interstate 94. I was with my 2 year old toddler and had to wait for a tow truck and my wife to pick us up. I had the vehicle towed back home to my local mechanic to look and diagnose the problem. The diagnosed the issue as a crank sensor tone ring. They also notified me there was a recall coming for this issue. I contacted fca and was directed to tow the vehicle to a certified dealer. I towed the vehicle over to the dealer and they determined the issue is the same as my local mechanic determined. I am also being told there is currently not a fix for this part, only a temporary fix. Fca said they will not pay for any of the towing and diagnostics. Since it was there faulty part that caused me to become stuck on the side of an interstate I am looking to be compensated for the repairs, diagnostics, and towing. This is a safety issue and I will be without a vehicle for "quite awhile" according to the dealer. The fca recall number is W58.

On several occasions once the truck is put in park it will jump into reverse. This has caused two accidents. The first one caused damage to my garage door, and the second one caused damage to someone's vehicle.

Purchased new: 08/03/2015 first engine failed 4/27/18 (was replaced under warranty) traveling 65mph on I-495 beltway and in the span of 10 seconds, all dash lights came on, the engine made a terrible grinding noise, and it completely died on the shoulder. Emissions settlement: 05/2019 (100K warranty info from date of emissions software update). Drastic loss in mpg (5mpg), power, and turbo lag after emission software update. Second engine failed: 8/03/2020. Traveling 65mph on I-83. No lights, only a engine knocking sound. Rerouted to dealer 1 mile away, and it completely died 1/2 mile later. Major recalls over the short life of this truck, and now fca is potentially unwilling to cover the cost of the 3rd engine, even though it only has ~30K miles on it. Dealership told me in writing the blown engine was covered under warranty and that the new engine was on order. Then they told me the following day that it was not covered or ordered. The part warranty is 2 years (for a diesel engine), which I missed by 2 months. I've only been driving 1 week out of the month during covid, so this recent problem would have happened inside the 2-year part warranty if covid had not happened. Now I'm spending my own time and money to pay the diagnostic and towing fees for a 2nd Ram dealership to do a full engine teardown. I also don't have another vehicle, so I have had to take personal days at work when I can't borrow vehicles from family. I provided fca a link to a folder containing every service record, purchase data and previous conversations with various dealers when the 1st engine blew as well as the emissions settlement. Fca case managers have been friendly and polite, but no one seems to think there is anything that can be done to fix this problem.

While driving on the freeway pulling a small 16 ft. Camper (I77 nb, mm ~68 in North Carolina), I noticed a loss of engine power and check engine light illuminated along with other warning lights, I tried the accelerator and the engine did not respond. I was able to pull safely onto the shoulder and popped the hood where I noticed flames. I told my family to exit the vehicle and tried to extinguish the flames (with a fire extinguisher from my camper) to no avail. We called 911 and waited for the fire crew to arrive. The vehicle is a complete loss. There is a recall on the vehicle (19V-757) regarding egr issues and potential for engine fire. The vehicle was in the local dealer and had the recall performed on May 18th. The recall was listed as complete and inspected, however after reporting the incident to fca, the status of the recall on my vehicle has been changed to open. Attached you will see photos of the shop visit showing recall completion. I also have a screen shot of the initial VIN look up on 8/8/2020 showing the recall completed, however there is now an update showing the recall as open, updated on 8/17/2020. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, however I was quick to exit the vehicle, observe the fire and tell my family to exit. I reported the incident to fca case [xxx] who have sent out an investigator to the vehicle. Fca today issued me a statement saying the information at hand does not permit them to associate the fire with a manufacturing or assembly error. Given the gravity of the fire, damage to my vehicle and potential injury to people I feel that if the cause cannot be ascertained or corrected it should be reported as a potential safety issue for further investigation. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'

For over 2 years problem of noise (bearings in a glass jar sound) has been occurring. Taken into 4 dealerships with "we can't hear it" - 8th time of bringing it to dealerships attention as of this week - engine locked up & stopped in a 6 lane traffic 18 mos ago with block replaced - noise sitll there, open a ticket with Chrysler 3 wks ago. Turbo changed out (hole in it) noise still there, drove my vehicle and one on the lot and was told noise is just what it is. Mechanic could still hear it but service mgr said nothing wrong with truck "drive for 2 wks and bring back if not happy. Noise is coming from the half shaft at 2000/2400 rpms vibration in wallowed our ring. Worried of being stranded with family on the road/safety issue. History is undervin#. fields Chrysler in asheville kept vehicle for 3 wks. 2015 on their lot that was traded in because owner was concern w/safety and could not stand the noise any longer. Noise not there when purchased new - started end of 2017. This is also when I questioned engine issues and had engine lock up 18 mos ago after being in and out of dealerships. Lucky to be alive

Rear differential problems. Whining noise happening on a taken care of vehicle. Happens while driving. Due to issues and recalls of other years I am wondering if that is the case for this years model as well. Has this been looked into as a problem on the 2015 Ram since previous and future years had the issue

After the recall and new update for fuel mileage rating. There is a delay in the throttle/turbo when applying the gas pedal. This happen when you are between 10mph and 15mph and are at a slow roll and apply the gas. Then all the sudden the truck will take off and rev way up.

8hp70 8 speed transmission failed @68,000 miles. Towed 5800 lb toyhauler from abilene tx to reno nv. Was taking a day trip to lake Tahoe (rv parked in sparks) when the transmission began skipping gears. Received a U0102 canbus error. Clearing the error allowed the transmission to continue operating but only for a few miles. Finally dropped it off at lithia Chrysler on Saturday. Factory warranty expired on Sunday (5th July 20) so fca will not honor powertrain warranty. Used my extended warranty to cover the transmission but had to pay $470 expedited shipping few. Supposed to get truck back Friday. So we are stranded in reno without a truck.

Recently complete the aem emissions flash now my truck has a seriously throttle delay up to 7 seconds, I either sluggishly pull into traffic and hope not to get T boned or give myself and passengers whiplash when I have to depress the throttle in order to make the truck move. This occurs every morning and afternoon when going to and leaving work. And throughout day when running errands. Manufacture states this could be caused by the emissions update they performed.

On May 31, 2020 I was traveling from baltimore, md to san antonio Texas on ih 85 South near lexington, nc in the middle lane at 60 mph when my vehicle totally shut down to a stop. Traffic was heavy but I safely pulled off to the shoulder and called for roadside assistance. We waited 3 hours before we got a capable tow for the truck and the U-haul we were towing. The tow company towed my truck to M&L Chrysler Dodge Ram dealership in lexington nc. The next morning about 8:00 am, I called the Chrysler Dodge Ram dealership for the results of their diagnostics. Around 11:00am I called back to Chrysler Dodge Ram dealership. They informed me they think the problem was with the fuel system and they needed to order the parts and it would take a few days and that it would be covered under the emissions recall V08 warranty.

Per the ecodiesel settlement I had the upgrades done on my truck. After the upgrade there was noticeable loss of power and throttle response. There were many occasions where the truck was unsafe to drive due to loss of power when merging into traffic from a stop or when accelerating to merge onto a highway. I had to trade in the vehicle due to the fact that a safe vehicle is required for my job. I mentioned to my local Ram dealer where I had the aem upgrade done and they said that there was nothing they could do about it, that many Ram owners were complaining about the power loss and throttle response. Even though I traded in the truck, this needs to be addressed. Had this been how the vehicle performed from day, I never would've purchased it. I feel that fca was never honest and upfront with vehicle owners of the ecodiesel engines.

Manufacturer recall number VB1 NHTSA recall number 19V-757 recall status recall incomplete, remedy not yet available if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. So per NHTSA recommendations, shown above, we are filing an online complaint since the manufacture (again per above) does not have a remedy. The exhaust gas recirculation (egr) cooler on your truck [1] may be susceptible to thermal fatigue. Thermal fatigue may cause the cooler to crack internally over time. An egr cooler with an internal crack will introduce pre-heated, vaporized coolant to the egr system while the engine is running. In certain circumstances, this mixture interacts with other hydrocarbons and air in the system, potentially resulting in combustion within the intake manifold, which may lead to a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire may increase the risk of injury to occupants and persons outside of the vehicle, as well as property damage.

Issue #1 truck is dangerous to operate since emission control update. Will not accelerate from a stop for several seconds then spins wheels. Unsafe on wet roads and slopes due to unexpected throttle response. Unsafe when pulling into traffic or crossing intersection. Unable to tow due to loss of power. Fuel mileage adversely affected. Now gets 13-17 mpg. Tailpipe emissions now smell like diesel and tailpipe has turned black since update. Cannot leave engine running in the garage due to overwhelming odor of diesel. Persistent odor of antifreeze. Issue #2 I have not received the class action settlement from fca. The mandated updates have been performed. I am looking for legal counsel to help me get out of this vehicle before someone I care about is injured or killed due to the loss of performance and erratic throttle control. Issue #3 loss of power when crossing intersection from a rolling start. Engine fault light came on and vehicle would not accelerate leaving me stranded in the road with four lanes of oncoming high speed traffic. Issue #4 tailgate opened with a load of lumber in the bed causing loss of load. The tailgate had to be replaced at my own expense. Thankful that no one was injured due to the loss of load or during the cleanup. Issue #5 fuel pump noise. The fuel pump makes a constant noise that sounds like the bearings are failing or something similar. Waiting to be stranded again. Issue #6 loss of vehicle power. Would not accelerate to road speed. 20 mph max when exhaust filter became clogged up and would not regenerate. Issue #7 4X4 transfer case makes grinding noise and has excessive play. When rolling along in stop and go traffic this is very uncomfortable due to the rocking back and forth upon acceleration / deceleration. Issue #8 air conditioning does not cool as when new. And more -out of space.

Following recieving the ECU update for the aem recall due to emissions issues with the vehicle. The vehicle lags considerably when driving down the road. So far the manufacturer is saying that it has to do with a cold vehicle, however, I have had this happen when the vehicle was up to operating temperatures while unload and while towing. This lag when towing has caused my truck and trailer combination to start to go backwards down a hill that my house resides on. After the truck lags when the power kicks in it does not ease in on the power it just jumps straight in nearly causing the tires to spin. So far the only way around this that I have found is to manually control the transmission shifts when starting out slow on hills. I am not the only one experiencing this issue please see https://www.tfltruck.com/2019/08/Ram-1500-ecodiesel-update-email/ for more information.
