The antilock brake electronic control module failed resulting in loss of antilock brake system, traction control and cruise control. The loss of antilock brakes caused a near miss.
ABS and Traction warning lights come on when driving. ABS system no longer working. Problem was confirmed by independent service center as well as Ram dealership with DTCC2200-49 and U0415-00 error codes. Dealer asking $2697.80 to repair.
I own a 2015 Ram 1500 earlier this year I got a message on the vehicle indicating to service electronic braking system. The ABS light along with the Traction Control light and the Brake light came on at the same time. I took the vehicle to a mechanic to have it checked out. He indicated that the electronic braking module had failed and that it needed to be replaced. The part is not available anywhere. I have contacted dealers in different states as well as other Ram parts stores and it is not available. I have been trying to get this part for over 7 months. According to the mechanic the vehicle's ABS function will not work without this part nor the traction control either. Brakes work like the days of old pre ABS. When I contacted Ram they told me to have the dealer order the part and they could expedite it but the dealers tell me they can't order the part since it shows under engineering review and shows in their system the part will not be available until March 2024. How is it possible that a U.S. automobile manufacturer can not have a vital safety part unavailable for over a year. It is obvious that the part is faulty since it isn't available and there are numerous posts online from other Dodge, Ram and Chrysler owners that have had to replace this part. The part number my specific model is 68228991AD. It is my understanding that this same part is also used in Chrysler, Dodge, RAM, and Jeep models.
The ABS control module has failed over a year ago and factory replacement parts are unavailable. Mopar dealers advise they are on backorder with no expected delivery date. The failure of this unit disables the Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Speed Control.
Vehicle has displayed error code C0020. Also dashboard display has showed Service Electrical Brake System and ABS failure. This has appeared since 2020. Parts to replacement the failed unit were not available till Jan. 2023. FCA has known of this issue has they released a Star Online Publication Case:#S2005000004, release date: 04/28/2020. This is issue that has been on going has online web forums, and individuals have express frustation with the manufacturer failing to acknowledge a safety problem. Have not had it service has the is around $1,000 and believe that FCA should address this has a safety issue and issue a vehicle recall.

...The component that failed is the ABS and traction system, the hitch brake system and the cruise control also stopped working, all this abs and traction system when it stops working can cause the vehicle to not move have correct performance in its braking and skidding system, which can be dangerous, especially in severe rainy and humid climates. I took the car for inspection to the dealer in naplenton in kisiimmee fl and the diagnosis so far is that it has damage to the abs module and the abs pump, which must be replaced and whose price for parts and labor is around 1615 $ with a tendency to increase according to the dealer, so far I only have the diagnosis and quote of the arrangement, since the parts take around 7 days to be available. Yesterday I contacted the FCA inquiring about the warranties of the car on these parts and about an extended warranty that they had offered me in the past tense due to other damages that I had previously in the vehicle with other parts, I did not get a response from FCA about that warranty and The dealer tells me that I do not have any warranties to cover this repair, so I will have to put it out of my pocket. It should be noted that my truck is from 2015 and it is a work vehicle and it only has 54,000 thousand miles, that is, it is a truck that has been given the use and exploitation for which it is designed.... thank you very much
Went to go start the truck one morning and when I got in the truck as soon as I exceeded over 7 MPH it says to service the ABS system and the trailer brake system. I turned off the truck and started it again and it said the system was reporting fine. As soon as I went over 7 MPH again it said to service the abs again. I feel this may be a safety issue because it-??s a component that-??s needed for every vehicle like mines in the event I need to brake hard to avoid an accident. I can-??t have the system say there-??s an issue and say it-??s ok the next time I start the vehicle.
The abs module is throwing lights which then of course disables my cruise control. Also with no antilock brakes it definitely puts not only myself but others at risk in the case I have to stop quickly or on lwet/slick roads. We have had it to a shop and have a quoted price of 2500 to fix. I had no problems whatsoever with this until I started the truck one morning and the lights came on. Upon further research I have seen this is a problem with alot of Dodge trucks which leads me to believe that we need to revisit the part.
The ABS control module and pump both failed and need to be replaced at a cost of $2200. This is outrageous for a vehicle with only 64,000 miles. The fact that both units failed at the same time is suspicious to me and suspect that one part caused the other to fail and is not a normal wear failure. This should be a covered repair by Ram at no cost to the owner by means of a recall. I have been told by my mechanic that this failure is common on these trucks which further confirms there is a design or part defect.
The air suspension on my 2015 Ram 1500 has been failing (blowing fuses while driving, freezing up and failing to inflate before startup) each winter for the past three years. As mentioned above, the system can fail while operating the vehicle, due to blown fuses from an electrical short in the system. It also can just fail to inflate on cold days. The system apparently was not installed with an air drying capability causing these issues above and this should be expected in colder climates. The air suspension is a 'closed' system, but was built is capable of pulling in air from the outside under certain conditions (meaning it is not a closed system). Given the fact this ability was incorporated into the system, an air drying system should have been included as well. It is a critical safety concern when the system fails to inflate the air suspension and fca should have known it would fail. I would like to see a recall reimbursing people for the costs associated with fixing failures of this system (compressor and air bag failures) as well as the installation of a remedy (full replacement) to permanently fix the system.
Right front brake caliper locked up causing front wheel to smoke and create fire risk. Left front caliper locked up 10 months ago causing the same problem with heavier smoke. I filed a report last year for the left front caliper.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the parking brake cable was sagging, and failed to release the parking brake to disengage the parking brake light. The contact manually pulled the pedal inside the vehicle for the light to disengage. The vehicle was taken to freehold Dodge & Ram (299 South St, freehold township, NJ 07728), and was diagnosed that the parking brake cable was rusted and ceased in place and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the extended warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,400.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500 the vehicle started to stall and the odor of smoke was present the front and rear passenger side brakes seized and produced smoke the dealer diagnosed faulty calipers that required replacing the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph the vehicle speed suddenly began to slow down and the odor of smoke was present. Upon inspection it was discovered that the front and rear passenger side brakes had seized and were smoking. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer bobb auto group. 13007 wicker ave, seirr lake ind while diagnosed that the caliper were faulty and needed to be replaced. The passenger side front and rear brake assemblies were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Was driving down a highway and all the warning lights lit up like a christmas tree on the dash. Then the vehicle started to slow down by itself and then started to take off by itself. As I was slowing down it leaped forward into oncoming traffic when I was trying to turn off the highway. This is the second time this has happened with this vehicle. The first time this happened the dealership couldn't make it repeat so they sent me on my way with no resolution. This time, I got an extreme amount of attitude from the dealership saying I was causing the problems and that I didn't want any help after they mentioned they were going to charge me. I'm surprised they let me have that truck back as dangerous as it is but they certainly did. This thing is like a time-bomb. Just waiting for the next incident and there certainly will be one. They would not let me have the paperwork this last time because I would not sign it.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the brake pedal was faulty. The brake pedal became loose and was a safety issue. The vehicle was taken to Dodge Chrysler huntington beach (16701 beach blvd, huntington beach, ca 92647, (714) 841-3999), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 157,000.
When coming to a stop, vehicle fuel shifts in tank forcing vehicle unexpectedly forward under braking. If unprepared for the shift, which only happens under braking when the truck downshifts, the truck will overpower the currently applied brakes taking more time to stop. This can result in a collision with a stopped vehicle or object if the driver does not apply harder braking.
On May 29,2018. I rearended a semi truck. I had my foot on the brake pressed to the floor but vehicle would not come to a complete stop. When towed to collision center I addressed my concerns to them that I felt my vehicle was defective due to the truck maintaining speed while I was applying brakes. They plugged it into scan tool and four default codes came up. (ABS, airbag, power steering, door module)I then proceeded to open a claim with daimler Chrysler. What was supposed to be the main concern that was supposed to be investigated was why default codes came up & truck was not stopping to avoid collision. Daimler Chrysler assured me there third party investigator would investigate all the issues (all default codes). They where sent out, plugged truck into scan tool and took pictures. Third party sent my husband & I a copy of what the crash test data was.been calling them for answers since my truck has been sitting for month & a half untouched. To find out that they only investigated air bag issue & not other very serious mechanical safety issues. Clearly documented in crash test data, from my vehicle, states positive torque to motor with pedal pressure of accelerator reading at 0% & while brakes where being applied. I have documents to prove my statements. Also at time of accident my VIN was not included in the current recall of cruise control. On June 14th,2018 my husband checked our VIN again & it is now included in current recall. At the time of accident my cruise control was not engaged. But the recall is due to the powertrain control module or engine control module not removing positive torque requests from the can-B. if can-B stops communicating with the ECM or PCM. Also all other default codes should be investigated like the power steering that pulled to one side while I was braking. Their are to many issues with my vehicle that they know about & are hiding.
