I was driving my truck down the highway at about 70 mph when a engine light came on and the truck just stopped working. It completely stalled, it was difficult to steer, but luckily I was able to pull over safely. I looked up the warning light and it said it had to do with the crank shaft sensor. The truck would not turn over and I had to have it towed. My truck has now been sitting at a Dodge dealership for 2 months and they are saying it will be another month until they might get the crankshaft sensor in needed to fix it. Here is the thing, Dodge is well aware of the problem. A problem that is so wide spread they literally do not have anymore parts to fix it. They have a recall for it for vehicles manufactured in the us with a work around until they get parts made but because my truck was manufactured in Canada they refuse to put my VIN in with the recall so they can use the work around. I have been in contact with Dodge and have gotten no where. I have another recall that has not been fixed and they say cannot be fixed until they get the crankshaft fixed. This other recall they have known about for over a year and they would tell me to take it on the highway and drive it. Now they are telling me what a fire hazard this recall is.

When I stopped the truck, I accidentally turned off the key before putting the transmission in park. I saw smoke come from under the dashboard and smelled electrical wires burning. The transmission did go into park. After that the truck started fine, the only noticeable thing is the cruise control no longer works. Fortunately no actual vehicle fire resulted from the incident. I am taking the truck in for service, the dealer had never heard of the issue, but will look into it.

Air bag light on for two months, had a tech look at it clock spring kit sensor bad, he said odd as truck is still pretty new, safety concern it controls deployment of air bag, controls horn, cruise control, and engine interface functions:or oil pressure, oil temp, tire pressure display, the fact that the spring semester can control that many safety features and fail. In less than five years is of need to investigate as repairing is only dealer part and cost is. Cost prohibited as most safety features should have a ten year lifetime at least.a refrigerator does and it runs 24/7.

While waiting at a stop light and then stepping on the accelerator the Ram went into limp mode and did not go past 15 mph. The Ram did not turn on any light to notify me of an issue. I had to forcefully take it out of limp mode therefore risking the transmission to get damaged. There was a big truck behind me making a left who thankfully noticed the Ram stopped working and patiently waited for me to move out of the way. I turned it off and turned it back on and it started working again. Seems like a recall issue on Ram as I have been reading this has happened to hundreds of people.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationed to make a turn and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated and surged forward. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. In addition, the VIN was associated to NHTSA campaign number: 19V757000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was taken to local dealer pueblo Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram located at 2147 us 50 West, pueblo, co 81008, (719) 545-6666, and where they were made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair the part was not available for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The truck has an exaust leak. It's on the passenger side manifold. The bolt broke for some reason and is a big common issue in these trucks. There needs to be a recall because the bolts used wasnt strong enough to with stand pressure and corrosion. My cruise control also no longer works like it should. It will go into cruise control very rarely and when it does it's hard to get it out. I have to shut the truck off most of the time to get it out of cruise control mode. The lights that luminate the press buttons in the steering wheel flicker randomly. So it tells me it must be a wiring issue of some sort. I've contacted a Dodge dealer ship and they are aware of the problem but they refuse to fix it as they say it's normal wear and tear. I'm afraid with the exaust leak the extra heat in the engine bay may result in melted wires or even worse a fire. Thank you for reviewing this problem.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph and attempting to pass another vehicle in the next lane, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal. The pedal traveled to the floorboard and did not release, causing the vehicle's speed to increase to approximately 80 mph. The contact depressed the brake pedal in attempt to slow down the vehicle; however, it failed to slow down until the contact deactivated the cruise control and depressed the brake pedal. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, placed the gear in park, and turned off the vehicle. The brake and electronic throttle failure warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of troy (located at 1790 maplelawn dr, troy, mi 48084, 248-585-8800) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided case number: [xxx]. the approximate failure mileage was 72,500. After having the aem update completed, I lost 5mpg in fuel economy (from 23 mpg combined, to 18 mpg combined), I also am experiencing an incredibly unsafe amount of acceleration lag (4-6 seconds). When pulling into traffic travelling at 40+mph, this lag in acceleration causes me to roll into traffic with no power or ability to accelerate until the engine decides to kick in.this lag in acceleration is the biggest concern as the duration of lag is inconsistent and unpredictable. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and am not confident in it's performance anymore. I, like many other owners would like to get rid of this truck. I think fca should take bake the truck becuase it has become a financial/safety nightmare. As of January 2019, I have spent over $7000 on the exhaust system prior to the aem update coming out (egr cooler clogged, turbo hoses bad, etc.) luckliy, I just had the egr cooler replaced under the new warranty but the drivability (good fuel economy and power) is no longer present. If this truck functioned like this when I first test drove it, I would never have bought it.

Cruise control functionalities is not working with 100 percent consistencies. When the cruise control is set active, it cannot be deactivated or cancel, the only way to disengage the active cruise control is by stepping on the brake to cancel or deactivate the cruise control. I believe this is a safety concern what if the cruise control can not be disengage.

1500 6-cyl Diesel

  • 75,000 miles
I own a 2014 Ram 1500 with a 3.0L eco diesel. There was a federal class action lawsuit that was handed down and the outcome was an approved engine modification (aem). The aem was a reflash of the ECM and tcm. After the recall was performed, the performance of my truck dangerously impacted. If I drive my truck before the engine reaches operating temperatures over 150degrees, there is significant acceleration delays. It usually takes me 5-10minutes of driving or more than 20minutes of idling (warming up) to get the engine up to operating temperatures. I can push on the accelerator petal and wait 3-5 seconds before the truck reacts, then I get pushed back into my seat and sometimes spin the drive tires. This is extremely dangerous, especially when I am turning into oncoming traffic, or trying to overtake another vehicle on the highway. Also, prior to the engine reaching operating temperatures, I now experience 'turbo flutter' this is where too much air is forced into the intake manifold and the air is pushed back through the turbo. The truck acts as if the breaks are pulsing. Similar to the above, it happens when I am accelerating, not with the accelerator pushed to the floor, just normal, conservative driving. A few other changes I have found after the aem, I have lost significant fuel economy, greater than 10%, and diesel exhaust fluid (def) consumption is significantly higher. These last 2 items do not directly effect the drivability of my truck but if I had know these things would have happened after the recall, I would not have had the recall performed. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

In may I brought my truck into my local Ram dealership for a mandatory recall for the ecodiesel engine system as part of a class action lawsuit settlement with the epa. The truck received batch of new software that significantly damaged its ability to accelerate safely from a stop. There is currently a 2-4 second delay between my pressing the gas pedal, and receiving a response from the engine. This has led to near misses, as the delay isn't always predictable. It is worse starting from a stop heading uphill. This delay is wholly a part of the recall installed on my vehicle in May. It had not experienced this type of delay prior to the service. The vehicle also suffers from delayed response while moving, but this is a second or two, and can be predicted and accounted for. The delay from start is abysmal, and unsafe. My life, and the lives of my family members, have been placed at risk due to fca's inability to meet emission requirements without compromising the safe operation of my vehicle. To add insult to injury, dealers know about the issues, and the ecodiesels are bringing extremely low trade-in value. I would not have bought this truck in the first place if it drove the way it is today.

On 06/12/2019, I had the V08 recall (aem modification update) done on my 2014 Ram 1500 ecodiesel. This recall was required as part of an emissions related lawsuit. Fca advised that the updated software is not expected to change any of the vehicles attributes to include vehicle performance, driveability, and fuel economy. After having the recall work done, I have noticed a serious concern regarding the acceleration of the vehicle from a stop (especially when the engine is cold or not fully warmed up). When accelerating from a stop, there is a delay in the acceleration which I can best describe as feeling like "severe turbo lag." When trying to cross a busy intersection or trying to merge into traffic, if you try to accelerate quickly, the vehicle does not respond like it did prior to the recall work. After pushing the accelerator harder and getting through the lag in acceleration, the turbo finally kicks in and the vehicle accelerates quickly because you have to basically "floor it." I also noticed when driving up an incline and stopping at a stop sign, while continuing gradually up the incline the vehicle does not respond to light/gradual pressing of the accelerator. Pressing the accelerator harder causes the turbo to kick in and the vehicle to downshift which causes the vehicle to accelerate quickly. On 06/26/2019, the dealership tested it and test drove it for 12 miles and noting that they "did not experience anything abnormal when compared to like vehicles" and "vehicle performing as designed." My wife and I continued to notice the same issues and I contacted fca again. They said they would document it and said that I could take it to the dealer again. I told them that I was not going to waste my time and reiterated that this issue was clearly a result of the update. Fca closed my complaint.

. my pick-up averaged 24 per gallon between local and expressway driving. Expressway driving only (for example, to niagara falls in 2015) averaged 27 miles per gallon. Following replacement of spark plugs and oil change and 2 factory recalls my pick-up lost power and could barely do 20 miles per gallon. The engine became very loud. The longer I drove it, the less mileage I got -- the engine also began howling/whistling as I tried to increase speed. In order to maintain speed, I had to constantly press my foot to excelerate, even going down inclines. I had to continuously bring my pick-up back to the dealership in St. Charles, Illinois because various systems began to fail -- safety breaks, fuel related black box, dashboard panel signals, etc. I expressed concern about the stress on my transmission and engine. Eventually, by process of elimimation, service department revisited the 2 recalls -- one of which was the cruise control recall. When I brought it in again, they found 6 leaks located on the top of the engine. Anything above 50-55 mph is difficult. I feel that the transmission does not change gears in a timely fashion, and sometimes not at all. The RPM is very high and the engine remains in exceration mode either too long or, at higher speeds, never kicks

Acceleration/ cruise control issue: I had the vehicle's cruise control engaged at the posted speed limit (70 mph) on the interstate. I accelerated to avoid a bottleneck in an area where 3 lanes merged into two. When I lifted my foot off the gas pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate. I pumped the brake several times to reduce the speed, but I could not resume acceleration because the gas pedal locked to the floor. I placed the vehicle in neutral and coasted to the shoulder. I turned the vehicle off, manually lifted the pedal and turned the vehicle back on. A display message stated: Service electronic throttle control; but the vehicle seemed to operate fine. I had this event happen two more times. Once was in a similar scenario, the other I replicated it on my own. I contacted the Ram customer assistance center, they advised that I take it to the dealer for a diagnosis. If it is due to a recall it will be fixed for free, otherwise the diagnosis costs and repair will be on me. My concern is that I had several recalls fixed on November 23, 2018. This issue had never happened in the past until it was serviced for those recalls. I had an individual at autozone attempt to download the trouble codes; no codes were found. I've read forums online about similar issues, but dealer(s) were not able to find the cause during diagnosis. The vehicle only has 33,000 miles.

I haven't been called or mailed a link recall notice for the cruise control system recall. I have also had my truck in the shop for air bag sensors failure messages. Most recently February 2018 and the messages keep repeating. I have been told that they have replaced the seat sensors and wiring harnesses several times the last time they had my truck for 4 days without furnishing a loan or rental car.
