1. had to replace the exhaust sytem because the automatic exhaust stopped working after towing the truck to the dealer to create a forced regen 2. replaced 2 turbos 3. after emission recall was completed, engine was loosing antifreeze and overheated. Added antifreeze several times and then the engine started blowing white smoke, engine knocking like a loose crank or rocker arm truck lost complete power. The truck was delivered to Ram dealer in riverhead, after spending 1600 dollars for engine diagnosis, which was clear apparent to anyone, the said engine was no good.

Noticed a small loss of radiator fluid, no visible leak, but did receive letter relating to a diesel egr cooler defect. Now am concerned about steam leaking into my engine oil and thus contaminating the engine oil with damaging effects on the engine internal parts. Egr valve should also be evaluated as it directly effects egr cooler.

Was told the exhaust manifold bolt/studs warped and snapped and the exhaust manifold is warped, this happened on the driver side first but was covered under warranty but now happening on driver side out of warranty. Was told my dealership they see this often and was told fca has fixed the problem in newer years by using stronger material in the bolts. This informs me that fca knows of the problem but the dealers won't cover it as a design defect. Clearly there is a design defect with the exhaust manifold bolts as they should not be doing this and manufactures are suppose to account for these parts to see extreme temp changes. This has happened now twice to me but because I am no longer under warranty they won't fix the problem. The fist time was before 60,000 miles and now the other side is happening at 76,000 miles. To summarize the problem is warped exhaust manifold bolts and the manifold itself.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V757000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor coming from the vehicle. The contact also noticed smoke under the hood of the vehicle. The contact pulled the vehicle over and noticed flames underneath the hood. The contact extinguished the fire with water. A fire report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the intake manifold melted and caused the fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, investigated the failure, and opened a case; however, the manufacturer denied the claim after the investigation. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. Additionally, there was sputtering while driving and fumes were present inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel economy went from approximately 25 miles per gallon to 16 miles per gallon. The vehicle was taken to boniface-hiers Chrysler Dodge Jeep (1775 E merritt island causeway, merritt island, fl 32952, (321) 452-8181) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the software update per the manufacturer recall was updated correctly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. Driving on hwy 17 down a ramp, throttle sensor light came on and truck stalled out. Restarted truck to pull off hwy/ramp to safer location, noticed thick bl smoke billowing out from under hood. Pulled into parking lot, lifted hood to see flames coming off engine. Bystander called 911 while I got a bucket of water. Threw bucket of water onto engine while police and fire dept finished extinguishing. Fire dept stated they have seen a few eco fires. Towed to hendrick's, contacted Ram. Ram stated no need to contact ins co (they will handle it). Thought this was strange, contacted ins co anyways. Inspected by 2 fire specialists, ins co and Ram. Ins co stated manufact defect, Ram stated leaky injector (which were replaced by Ram 18K mi prior at dealership). I sustained smoke inhalation and 1st degree burns to face, neck, lt arm and had/have headaches. Truck was still under 100K warranty with only 40K. Ram denied opened claim and warranty. Ins co totaled truck out, they still have an open claim against Ram. Additionally Ram denying my emissions settlement of 3K only offering 900 (stating emissions work couldn't be done due to fire classifying me as a previous owner although I was current owner even at that time). I still haven't settled emissions. Recently Ram has recalled all 108K eco-diesels 2014-19 for fire hazard. My truck fits the description for what happens and always needed a little coolant with maint, insp, oil changes. I paid off my truck before, and now have a payment with what I consider a lesser truck. When I call fca and give my info they often hang up, act like they cant hear me, or state they are transferring me to manager (hanging up on me). Also stating someone will get back to me, but never any returned call (supposed to get a call tomorrow, will see).

While driving at interstate speeds for approximately 130 miles (2.5 hours), vehicle sputtered and lost power, it stabilized at~40 mph. A check engine light and red lighting bolt displayed. We exited the interstate and made course to a dealership utilizing smaller hwys. En-route to the repair shop, at about 40 mph, vehicle started emitting smoke to include inside the cabin. Stopped the vehicle and evacuated all 4 people inside. Flames and heavy smoke soon became visible as we watched from afar. Large flames grew and quickly engulfed the whole vehicle. Fire department arrived and put out the fire.

Wasn't sure if this fell under power train or engine itself. 2014 Ram 1500 3.6L engine. Oil filter housing is plastic. Noticed an oil leak upon changing oil. Brought to dealer and hoped it fell under power train warranty. Did not qualify so I'm out almost 1,000 for the repair. Researching, this is a known common problem. Dealer attributed it to being over tightened filter housing. Well research shows this happens due to the temperature cycling over time. Oil leaking onto the engine manifold creates a fire hazard under the proper conditions. Manufacturer should put forward a recall to replace the housings or design one that is metal for an adequate replacement.

Exaust (carbon monoxide) leak: On my vehicle and many others I have heard, either the exaust manifold or the manifold bolts crack or break causing a leak and loud clicking noise. The dealer repaired the passenger side manifold under my warranty but now the drivers side has cracked or broken and the warranty has expired. The noise stops after warmup but here is till a question of how much carbon monoxide leakage is acceptable until he noise stops.

Had the aem emission recall done now truck runs bad. Sluggish and no throttle response for 4 to 5 seconds. Lost 5 miles per gallon. Shift points changed. Lots of pinging and turbo back flush. Loud and sound like rod or cylinder rattling. No power pulling trailer or when climbing hills, have to keep it floored. Dealer confirmed all problems and says nothing they can do. Around 55000 miles.
