Going home after Thanksgiving dinner at our daughters OCTOBER 22, 2019 9:20 PM from Saskatoon. We are now past Whitefox heading down Highway 35 to the Nipawin bridge (under construction, One Lane) crossing the Saskatchewan river. Just before you head downhill we hit a deer head on. That impact damaged something in the computer??? That caused the brakes to totally fail and the engine increased to high RPM's and there was nothing we could do about it. We immediately put the truck in neutral, reverse park and nothing happened, it was like it was disconnected.
The brakes to the floor and gas pedal on its own to the floor heading down a big hill to a one lane bridge over Saskatchewan River. This is the scariest experience you can imagine. unintentional suicide. Last minute my husband driving, we knew we had to get off highway or we are dead. I spotted an approach on opposite side of highway and screamed take the approach in which he did but only half hit it, so we ended up hitting a ditch when I heard my back crack and I started screaming about my back. He lost his glasses so couldn't see anything. NOTE this was about 9:20 PM so it is pitch dark. Luckily the airbags didn't deploy or we wouldn't have been able to see road to exit highway, so that was a malfunction too.
The truck made a big circle in the field and finally came to a stop on its own, But we think the hard impact of hitting the ditch disengaged the throttle and that's why it came to a stop. We must have hit the ditch about 80-90 KPH.
I ended up with a fractured vertebrae and my husband escaped with no injury other than in shock as to what just happened.
WE WILL NOT DRIVE THAT TRUCK AGAIN, IT NEEDS TO BE PARTED OUT AND CRUSHED.
DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT LIVES OR IS IT ALL ABOUT $$$$$$ I CALLED DODGE AND REPORTED IT AND ALL THEY SAY IS IT HAS TO BE DEALT WITH BY INSURANCE. SOMEONE WILL BE DEAD IF THIS TRUCK IS BACK ON THE ROAD.
