When I bought the truck in July of 2014, Uconnect was being marketed as providing "Integrated Uconnect® Voice Command with Bluetooth® Streaming Audio, hands-free calling and voice texting ..." It was not true.
Voice texting is a subscription service. I was cut off from service a year later and informed they want $15 a month to use "voice texting" through my phone.
I asked before I purchased the truck about any needed subscriptions to use the basic features. The staff at the dealer went over the advertising and said I would not need to pay a monthly fee to use my phone, "hands free." In Washington State, the police can stop you and write a ticket for using your phone by hand. They said the subscriptions for were for other apps, like listening to Pandora while I drive or create a mobile hot spot for Wi-Fi.
I feel Ram (Dodge) lied. They used what is called a "bait and switch" technique. The bait was "hands free" phone use. They "switched" it after a year of use to make sure I would pay an additional $15 a month ($150 a year) to use the text messaging system on my phone ... which I already pay for each month.
I see two options to solve this - restore the voice texting as a feature, as it was advertised or a lawsuit to force them to follow their advertising.
