1500 Big Horn 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Started with the check engine light, looked up the code p0933 "Hydraulic Pressure Sensor" then started to experience shifting gear problem when driving. Later, started to experience when I put it in drive it delayed a few seconds then it would jump and drive. This truck has 115,000 miles. I took it to the Chrysler dealer and told me its probably a bad sensor and have to take out the transmission to replace a bad sensor. They said it would cost $2,800 after another day the dealer called me and said that the mechanic took apart the transmission because the sensors weren't the problem he said that I have bad seals and two pistons are damaged. So the mechanic said I need a new transmission, and it would cost $6,596. I have my truck at the dealer for one week now.

1500 Laramie/longhorn 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,744 miles

BOUGHT TRUCK NEW IN FEB 2014.TRUCK HAS ONLY 6744 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. TRANS HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW, DRAGS SHIFTS ON HIGHWAY WHEN PASSING OR DOWNSHIFTING. STICKS IN LOWER GEARS, ALSO THE OTHER DAY IT RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 1ST FOR NO REASON (WAS AT CONSTANT UNCHANGED SPEED OF 30 MPH AROUND TOWN) CAUSING ENGINE TO REV. STUCK IN FIRST GEAR UNTIL TRUCK WAS STOPPED. SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED (PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH)

DEALER HAS HAD TRUCK SINCE SINCE 02/03/16 FOR THE SECOND TIME, I MUST SAY THIS DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN DOING THEIR BEST TO FIND PROBLEM, HAVE NO QUALMS WITH THE DEALERSHIP, BUT IT WON'T CODE SO CAN'T REPRODUCE. TRUCK ALSO THUMPS AND JERKS WHILE STOPPED, ALMOST LIKE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING WHILE STOPPED. DEALER CALLED IT BUMP STOP AND SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND NO FIX AVAILABLE.

I PAID OVER $50,000 FOR THIS TRUCK FOR MY WIFE AND THE THOUGHT OF THIS TRUCK WITH THESE LOW MILES BREAKING DOWN AND LEAVING HER STRANDED OR CAUSING A CRASH DUE TO THIS ISSUE IS UNACCEPTABLE. ALL HELP IS WELL APPRECIATED.

ONCE AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT THE DEALER IS DOING ALL THEY CAN AND HAVE BEEN VERY GOOD ABOUT THIS. THIS IS OUR 4TH NEW CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP/RAM PRODUCT AND I BELIEVE RAM KNOWS A PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AND A FIX IS AVAILABLE BUT DOESN'T WANT TO GO TO THE EXPENSE OF REPAIRING.

1500 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

I bought a 2013 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi on 9/1/2015, with about 48,000 miles on it. When I test drove it I was on the highway and seemed to run great. As I am driving around town I am noticing that when I run between 35-40mph it feels like the transmission is bogging out, and you have to gas it to go anywhere. Then every time I turn on my street the rpm's jump to 3000. Not normal! So, I am taking it in to see what they say in 2 weeks (as I am a truck driver and am not home long enough to take it to the dealer) To be continued!

1500 HFE/Express 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15,000 miles

The "legendary" HEMI supposedly makes all kinds of power/torque but the transmission stays in too high a gear all the time, merging into traffic is a hassle because you can't gradually pick up speed you either have to let it stumble in too high a gear or mash the pedal and after some hesitation get jolted as it shifts down 3 gears and goes. The auto transmission is a 6 speed and I've owned older 3 speed automatic trucks with less gaps in the transmission. I didn't buy a 5.7L V8 because I wanted 40 MPG!

1500 Big Horn 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,485 miles

About a month after owning this truck, I was driving in town, and when climbing a short hill, the transmision refused to shift to a lower gear, and caused the truck to shudder violently. Since then, I've paid attention to how it has shifted, and noticed that it will stick in a high gear. The motor will bog to 600-700 rpm before shifting, sometimes requiring the gas pedal to almost hit the floor. Sometimes, when merging onto the highway, the truck will pull from 60km/h all the way up to 110km/h without shifting. The dealership has re-flashed the computer, but this hasn't helped. Guess I'll wait till the torque converter shoots out the side of the tranny to get this fixed!
