The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. While driving 57 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck and would not release. The contact applied both feet in an attempt to depress the brake pedal and stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle would not stop accelerating and there was a complete loss of brake functionality. The contact managed to pull off the road and placed the vehicle in the park position. The contact smelled a burning odor and noticed smoke rising from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to bill marsh Chrysler Dodge and Jeep (408 West miles road, kalkaska, Michigan 49646, 231-258-9192) to be diagnosed, but there were no warning indicators illuminated or diagnostic trouble codes present. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000. Updated 10/9/18

Driving vehicle when digital instrument cluster went black and engine stopped total loss of braking and steering assist. Loss of control of vehicle which rolled to stop. No collision or damage to vehicle. Vehicle restarts and driveable no digital information displayed. Dealer says digital instrument cluster failure. Concern definite safety risk if happened in traffic or when turning or stopping. Did the failure of the digital instrument cluster kill the engine or did something else kill the engine and the cluster. If the vehicle is driveable is it safe to drive or can expect repeat of same incident?

I checked online and it states there is a remedy to get my truck fixed, however I just got off the phone and have to wait to get another recall letter. If it states online there is a remedy why do I have to wait to get another letter ? I guess if my vehicle rolls away, it is okay with mopar.

"brake transmission shift interlock" I recently received my latest recall (this recall makes 4 in total since initial purchase of my 2013 Ram 1500). This latest recall is T79, and the previous 3 were: T25; R36; R23 all recalls are due to safety related issues on my Ram. This latest recall (T79) is the most concerning, because the vehicle can actually roll away while in the park position, without emergency brake engaged. I received recall T79 in early February 2018, and as of today 03/21/18, parts are still not available at my local fca dealership to fix this dangerous safety issue. For this reason my truck stays parked and only has approximately 14,800 miles, and my resale value has greatly been devalued. I do not feel safe behind the wheel of my truck and therefore I do not drive it. I feel I was mislead into believing I was buying a vehicle that was safe and fit to operate on the road, and this has not been the case. My truck is unsafe to operate due to this most recent recall T79, and I feel cheated out of a vehicle that I cannot even operate safely. I emailed fca, and explained to them that I felt I was mislead into purchasing an unsafe vehicle and would like a refund for the purchase price of the vehicle, because it is becoming more apparent to me that I was sold a lemon. There are over 1.5 million trucks out there with this T79 recall and parts, at least in my area, are currently not available, which poses an enormous risk and liability to continue to operate. 4 safety recalls in less than 15,000 miles, and almost 1 for every year of ownership is completely unacceptable. Thank you very much, -[xxx] phone [xxx] ('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).')

The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact called the dealer (rick hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram, 8333 rivers ave, North charleston, SC 29406, (843) 639-5475) several times regarding a recall repair for the brakes and power train. The dealer was unable to provide the part from the manufacturer within a reasonable time frame to receive a recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted to determine when the part would be supplied to the dealer. The VIN and recall information were not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

For the past several months I've noticed either drive train surging or brake failure at low speeds while parking - the truck seems to lurch forward unexpectedly. I thought it might have happened while pressing the brake pedal over a few seconds or possible shift issues while parking but I haven't been able to purposely duplicate it. Tonight while driving about 35 mph I slowed behind a vehicle making a turn when the brake pedal went to the floor with no braking. I backed off the brake pedal and reapplied pressure (maybe rapidly a few times - not sure) resulting in some braking and some squealing that sounded like tires skidding although the slowing was gradual and not abrupt. I made the turn behind the other vehicle and drove about another 1/4 mile home with no other problems and normal brake action. I've noticed that over the past few months there's a vibration when braking which may be related. The truck has about 85,000 miles on it, oem brakes and no problems noted during vehicle inspection at 80K service. The brake fluid reservoir is full. Most of my driving is highway commuting with relatively little braking.

The safety brake isn't always holding. Also the light which says the brake is on won't go off until you keep playing with parking release over and over. There is a recall, but they said my VIN is not on the recall list even though it is the same year and model.

Had to start braking quickly and the shaking what the dealer now tells me is from warped rotors created a very unsafe feeling and has to affect the braking performance. I believe that no vehicle with now 27000 miles on it should have warped rotors. Seems pretty obvious they are either defective or the cheapest quality rotor they could purchase.this vehicle iis designed for towing, and hauling a variety of iitems. Also around the same time I started noticing at times a clunking noise from the front end. The dealer informed me that it was a strut bearing gone bad. They did replace that part under warranty. Once again this made the vehicle steering feel unsafe. I have contacted Ram directly and so far they have offered zero assistance in dealing with the brake rotor iissue. Once again it appears that Ram obviously is not concerned with the consumers safety. Whether it is defective or cheaply made parts, they should be more concerned and responsive to customer complaints. I am not willing to pay to replace rotors and pafs with only 27000 miles on iit. How many other Ram trucks are out there with the same issue that they are not addressing. Braking and steering are 2 top components of the vehicles safety and they should not be able to skirt the issues and put peoples lives at risk.

Engine died at freeway speeds, ,taken to dealership 3 times, finally got it back, while driving on my way home it died again, could not stop until I hit cement culvert for water run off, damaging front bumper, had it towed to dealership where it sits now. The engine keeps shutting down without warning while driving on California freeways, big safety issue.

I had problems prior to April 2014 but I am just using a time frame when Chrysler got involved. In 2013 and 2014 my Dodge Ram would have the cluster panel come on with air bag service needed first and then the remaining lights would come on to include engine light while simultaneously the windshield wipers would come on. When I took it in to the dealer they tried to repair the problem to include resetting the computer. Over time I would lose my power steering and power brakes. Fortunately I was going into a parking area when I lost the power brakes otherwise I'm sure I would have crashed since I did not expect the change. As of late the truck will not start or the radio won't go off. Chrysler has really done nothing to resolve this problem and maybe I will need to crash first before something is done or run over someone when I lose my brakes. This is a problem since I purchased the truck. The truck is dangerous to drive since I never know when the electronics will quit on me. Over the last 10 days the truck wouldn't start at all two (2) times and all the lights and windshield wipers have come on at least three (3) times. I have not lost my brakes lately, but that is just a matter of time. I want to make this public because I know I will be held responsible if something happens, and it will. I have never had a vehicle do this and I'm just afraid someone will be killed if I should lose my brakes and steering while on the highway. Chrysler can be proactive or reactive. I think that I have been paying for a truck that will ultimately kill someone. I've tried to contact NHTSA by phone but the only thing there is that you leave a message and hope they will call back. Since the problems iterated above seem to have increased it's probably time to park the truck.

I was sitting in my truck in front of a convenience store for 20-30 minutes with the engine running while I caught up my texts and calls. When I got ready to leave I put my foot on the brake and put the vehicle in reverse. I glanced my mirrors and looked over my right shoulder and started to ease my foot off of the brake as I've done many times in the past. The next thing I know, I'm moving forward as if I had stomped on the accelerator and I crashed through the framing and glass of the store front. As I was penetrating the structure of the store I tried to put the vehicle into park and I was pushing on the brakes. Then the truck reverses and I realize I'm headed towards the gas pump and possibly other customers. All this time I was pushing on the brake and I would let off and hold them again. The engine was revving at what sounded to be the maximum then it would drop for just a bit and rev again. When I was headed for the gas pumps after leaving the building I pulled the vehicle shifter down to drive because it wouldn't go into park and I was in such a state of panic I hadn't thought to turn off the ignition. I was holding on for dear life to the steering wheel and letting go of it just didn't occur to me. After putting the vehicle into drive and running into the building for the second time, the engine dropped back to an idle and I put it into reverse and slowly backed out of the damaged storefront, put the truck into park and shut it off.I thought about it after it was over and even if I had inadvertently placed the truck into drive, letting my foot off of the gas pedal would have allowed the truck to merely bump into the concrete stopping block stopping it, it felt like the truck had a mind of its own.
