My 2012 Ram 1500 has a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment and it usually fades out after running the engine a little while. Also the the power door locks will not lock or unlock using the switch and the front passenger side window will not roll down. The air conditioner seems to run warm from time to time and has been filled a few times but no leaks were detected. These issues happened over a couple of years owning this truck. I purchased this truck with around 30,000 miles in 2013/2014 it now has 50,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to howard Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (13250 broadway ext, Oklahoma city, ok 73114) where it was determined that the wiring for the air bag indicator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also contacted and did not assist. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the air bag indicator twice before, but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The contact stated that the check engine and electronic throttle control (lightning bolt warning symbol) indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Simultaneously, the vehicle accelerated rapidly. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Sterling heights Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (40111 van dyke avenue, sterling heights, Michigan 48310, (586) 939-3900) was made aware of the failures and stated that the accelerator pedal assembly needed to be replaced and that an electrical failure occurred. The accelerator pedal assembly was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning after striking a bump in the road. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power completely. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart after slowly turning the ignition key. The contact stated that the ignition switch was faulty. Bimidji Chrysler center llc (755 paul bunyan drive nw, bimidji, Minnesota 56601, (218) 751-8006) was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

I'm one of the few owners of a Ram 1500 with a common problem. The fuel pump relay. It has become a constant problem with Ram owners like myself. First it seems as if your fuel pump had gone out and your truck will not start. After contacting mechanics and paying around $900to replace it the problem stills exist. Then after sonorous attempts to find out what the problem is it's the relay that Ram dealers know all about. It cost around a$1000 or more to have it repaired. I've contacted them and made them aware of the problem that myself and others are experiencing and they say there's nothing they can do they will not recall the problem they know your going to have prior to purchasing the truck. Please help us to resolve this ongoing issue. Thankyou.
Tipm computer issues. Fuel pump not shutting off dur to relay sticking inside the tipm. Random engine shutdown in traffic. ABS system inactive due to electrical issues inside the tipm. Engine codes from options not installed in the truck from factory. Tipm not recognizing key in ignition (cannot start with key. Only by remote) brake failure due to ABS module not getting signal from tipm.
While driving in town or on the freeway the truck will turn off completely. Radio stays on lights flicker but you loose all power and ability to turn or brake. This happened in town going 25 mph and also on the freeway going 75 mph. When it happens you must put the truck into neutral and restart the engine and pray it starts because you loose the ability to control the vehicular movements once the steering locks up. Once started it usually goes for awhile but the other day while on the freeway it happened 3 times. Once while accelerating up a hill surrounded by cars and semi trucks. This is a major concern because by loosing electrical function and power to a car/truck could cause a major accident. I am taking it in to get it fixed I hope soon but this is a manufactured defect in the ignition or key that could result in major injury or death.
Vehicle engine intermittently shuts down / powers off when slowing down. This has happened numerous times and the issue seems to be getting worse even after repairs. This is a major safety hazard and could cause serious injuries. 4/16/18 engine died 3 times on the way home from picking up my daughter from school, 5/1/18 driving on fm 2100 going approx 45 mph vihle comptely shut off at the intersection of fm 2100 & foley rd, was almost rear ended. 5/23/18 slowing down to turn on a 2 way street taking my daughter to school my engine shut off and I almost hit a vehicle head on with my kids in my truck. This tipm has been replaced, floor board gets extremely hot at times, fuel pump & external relay, issues with starting and dieing since approx. Nov 2017.
Front windows, mirrors and door locks work intermittently. The window, and mirror issues occur when the vehicle is in motion. The door lock issues occur when the vehicle is stationary.
2012 Dodge Ram 1500 express 2wd / 2 door truck. On March 21, 2018 at 9:00 am, I had a fire in the center of my steering wheel by my airbag. I took the truck to the dealer and they told me that my entire electrical wire harness caught on fire for no apparent reason. I called my insurance company and they told me they will only cover normal wear and tear. I believe this is a assembly and manufacturing issue with these vehicles now made in Mexico by inexperience and incompetent people working at Chrysler new manufacturing plant for cheap foreign slave labor in Mexico. The entire wire harness from my steering wheel all the way to my engine through the fire wall needs to be replaced now costing me well over $2200. The main wire harness is now a lot thinner wires and not protected from coming into heat or contact and weather conditions in the engine area. My main electrical wire harness in my truck caught on fire on me on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 9:00 am. I just wanted to report this issue to you.
Passenger side high and low beam headlights will go out at any time. Was told the problem is the tcim. Major safety issue if they go out when driving down the road in the dark. It is my understanding that the tcim is very expensive and may only solve the problem temporarily.
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. The contact stated that the failure occurred without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
I will be driving down the road and all of the sudden I lose power and the truck dies. When that happens I lose control of the steering wheel and it is very difficult to pull over to safety.this happens often and at anytime no matter if I'm on a city street or highway. It seems to have an effect on my ignition and 4-wheel drive
Tamara recall- so on June of 2017 I was driving from Texas to Colorado. I was at the passing by trinidad, co when the truck just gave out going up the hill. It literally left me stranded in the middle of the hill while cars wer driving by 70 miles an hour. M and M towing towed it to trinidad and they informed me the transfer case was bad and so was the right front drive shaft. I paid 2500 dollars to have that repaired. Well now since September of 2012 the truck keeps giving me problems. It turns off literally while I'm driving making me loose any steering or break power. The heating seats have stopped working, the traction light keeps turning off and on. The light trailer disconnected message is permanently on. The shifter won't move outta park almost everyday when I first start the truck. The truck turns on and immediately shutts off. The remote start only works half of the time. I was just informed the exhaust manifold is cracked and that the rfront differential is bad too. At this point the truck isn't even dribble unless I spend like 5000 in fixing it. Bit how if I'm making 700 payment monthly. The truck is plain and simple falling apart and I have only had it for a year and a half. What worries me the most that it turns completely off without notice or warning while I'm driving with my kids in the truck
Engine stalls intermittently on initial start attempt and during low speed going through intersections & accelerating on interstate entrance ramps. Immediate loss of driving control with limited brakes and manual steering to avoid traffic. Placing vehicle in park and ignition key to off vehicle woud restart. Ram dealership recommended replacing win module and I have had no reoccurences since, (45 days). Their is no recall out for this make and model but it has been noted as a part failure on other Chrysler vehicles. This is a real safety hazard as driving is difficult requiring above normal arm strength to get vehicle off the road. I have contacted chryler customer care and awaiting their response.
Mfg recall # T79 and NHTSA # 17V-821 also third rear cab brake light is leaking into the cab which can leak into airbags, may cause a malfunction due to corrosion.
Win moduel(wireless ignition node module) vehicle has 90,000 miles. When key is inserted into ignition and turned to the start position the win module fails to make a circuit internally and will not crank the vehicle. The faulty connections inside will also move while vehicle is in motion causing the vehicle to shut off at sometimes a high rate of speed. Resulting in loss of brakes, steering, lights, etc. Serious injury or death may occur because of this issue. My personal vehicle has done this repeatedly while in motion and also when starting. It happened on a city street while doing 35 mph.
