While driving at approximately 40 mph, traffic began to slow. When I attempted to slow to match traffic conditions, my brake pedal offered almost no resistance and sank to the floor. The car did not slow. I pumped the brake pedal repeatedly but it had no connection to the cars brakes. A vehicle collision occurred as a result as I coasted into the car ahead of me.

The contact owns a 2017 Porsche Macan. While driving less than 5 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed through the wall in the contact's garage. The vehicle entered the living quarters of his home. There was no injuries. Prior to the crash, the vehicle experienced independent acceleration and extra effort was required to slow down the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent auto body shop to be repaired. Porsche gold coast (125 S service rd, jericho, NY 11753, (516) 758-0800) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

Porsche Macan has long brake pedal travel. Manual says one thing and reality is another. I have had car to 2 different dealers and both say it's normal-trust me it's not at all satisfactory. It's just a matter of time before I will have an accident going into garage. Going up slight incline into garage causes car to downshift and accelerate and with long brake travel receipt for disaster. Sat in 2019 Macan today and brake travel is what you would expect very little travel. In conclusion Porsche knew they had a problem in 2017 as it is now fixed.

Brake travel tends to be inordinately long before showing signs of slowing the vehicle. Tendency is to then engage abruptly as the driver reacts to lack of stopping. Dealer indicates this is "normal". it may be normal but not particularly safe. You can "pump" the brakes and mitigate it somewhat but that's not normal behavior. I will enter a date but this is an every day occurrence.

Was pulling into a parking lane, at a shopping center with my foot on the brake, ready to put the vehicle in park, when the car suddenly felt as if it locked down brakes failed and the engine accelerated out of my control head on into another vehicle parked across a divider. I had no control of steering or brakes.. the car flashed a power steering failure.. airbags never deployed, and my vehicle sustained over $8,000 in damages. I had asked for data report that Porsche extracted from my car with no response.

It takes way too much brake travel at slow speeds for the brakes to consistently start engaging. This is especially an issue in parking situations: Garage parking, parking lots, etc.

I have a 2017 Porsche Macan and since having the car in my possession, this vehicle has a long brake travel and at a few points, I was not sure that I would be able to stop the car on time. For instance, while approaching a stop sign, I began to push down on the brakes only to apply all force to make the vehicle come to a full stop-luckily I was not on a busy street because I could not get the Macan to stop before the stop sign. The distance the brake pedal travels before the brakes actually engage is very long. I am quite disappointed in the needless extent of travel. My vehicle is currently being serviced at manhattan motorcars in New York. When informing the service consultant of this issue, I was later told that "he cannot raise the pedal" and left it at that. One would expect more out of Porsche considering the reputation they try to uphold so strongly.

Brakes are very spongy and needs to be pumped to get improved braking. Very risky in slow speed due to no time/space to pump the brake. Several close calls during the past few months. I took the car to dealer on 5/15/17 to check. Dealer report that the brakes are normal! I understand that are many complaints by the Macan owners in the Macan forum. Please look into this safety issue.

I have a 2017 base. The distance the brake peddle travels before the brakes engage seems very long. About 1/2 way down. The brakes then work fine. If I pump the brake once the peddle seem to rise to an acceptable level and the brakes seem stronger. I took it to Porsche and they said the brakes are fine. The only time I have ever encountered this before in other cars is with air in line or bad master. Has anyone else had this problem ? it takes extra time for the brakes to activate which can lead to an accident
