The Cayenne S just hit its 5 year mark. The check engine light went on and there was a shrudding noice coming from the engine. After about 5 minutes of driving, it died on me. I was grateful that I at least made it to a safe place. The Cayenne S was towed to the dealer. The Porsche Service Rep was extremely helpful and offered to take this matter to Porsche, crossing fingers that Porsche takes ownership of this problem and covers the repair cost which is approximately $2300.
Cayenne S shut off in traffic. Had flat bedded to Porsche dealer (70 miles). 51,100 miles and 10 months out of warranty. Service tried to get my after market company ($4000) to fix it. They declined as they,"don't pay for bolts that back out"!! Two week delay followed by another two weeks to get fixed once Porsche agreed to pay 75% of $4100 bill. Replaced two of four camshafts and put new bolts in ALL camshafts. No loaner offered and I paid $1100. Coming off of 11 years of Lexus GX470 ownership, 180,000 miles, NO SERVICE CALLS,TOWS, or failures, I am disappointed!!!
BTW; The transfer case failed at 36k miles as well (was replaced under warranty).
