Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The contact received recall notifications for NHTSA campaign numbers: 10V024000 (vehicle speed control), 12V491000 (visibility), 14V168000 (air bags), and 16V340000 (air bags); however, the parts needed for the repairs were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact called hi-way Chevrolet Buick Inc at (712) 476-5309 (located at 1427 10th St, rock valley, ia, 51247) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck in the depressed position. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear passenger side of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three separate occasions; however, the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 10V024000 (vehicle speed control), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The contact stated while driving 30 mph the vehicle started rapidly accelerated. The rpms continued to increase. While depressing the brake pedal the vehicle would not slow down. The emergency brake was engaged causing the vehicle to slow down allowing the contact to drive onto the emergency lane and turn the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The acceleration occurred at least three times before the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test and was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000. Updated 09/30/11 the consumer stated a new gas pedal was installed. Updated 10/24/11

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The contact started the ignition; and when the accelerator pedal was engaged, the vehicle lurched forward without warning. The failure would occur sporadic. In addition, the failure occurred in the reverse position causing the vehicle to crash into the proceeding vehicle. The front bumper was damaged, and there was no personal injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on six different occasions for the same failure. The vehicle was repaired under two recalls associated with the NHTSA campaign id number 10V018000 (vehicle speed control: Accelerator pedal); and 10V024000 (vehicle speed control: Accelerator pedal). The remedy did not correct the problem and the acceleration failure continued after the recall repairs were performed. The dealer and manufacturer were unable to provide any resolutions. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The contact stated that he has received three recall notices; NHTSA campaign id number: 09V392000, component: Service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum; NHTSA campaign id number: 10V018000, vehicle speed control accelerator pedal; NHTSA campaign id number: 10V024000, floor mats. He has never had a safety issue associated with these recalls. The contact has tried to make appointments to have the remedies performed, but the dealer stated that they do not have the parts for any of the recalls. The first recall notice arrived in October 2009 and the others arrived in February 2010. The contact notified the manufacturer and they informed the contact that the dealer will not order the parts until he brings it in for diagnostics. The contact feels that the availablity of the parts are critical and he has concern for his safety in driving the vehicle. The current mileage is approximately 6600.

The car accelerated in a parking lot and hit a lightpole. Over a $1000 damage was done to the car. When the car hit the lightpole, it was on the recall list, so the recall repairs were done. The body work wasn't done. The car also accelerated once when I entered the garage. No damage was done since I already had my foot on the clutch and was able to get the car under control. Updated 05/24/10 the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer because the gas pedal shim was not installed properly. Updated 05/28/10

2009 Pontiac Vibe. Consumer states unintended acceleration. The consumer stated the vehicle accelerated out of control which caused her to crash into a light pole. The consumer stated when the vehicle was first purchased, it accelerated while she was driving into a garage. She was able to get the vehicle under control. The consumer stated her vehicle was recalled due to sudden acceleration problems. Weeks prior to the accident, the consumer inquired about the recall and was informed the repairs would be made once the parts arrived. While waiting for the parts, the consumer had an accident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where NHTSA recall # 10V024000 vehicle speed control :accelerator pedal was performed on the vehicle. The contact has not noticed the failure since having the recall performed. The failure mileage was 8700 and the current mileage was 9000.

One month prior to the recent failure the vehicle was taken to the dealership where NHTSA recall# 10V024000: Vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the failure could not be reproduced. The failure mileage was at 7000 and the current mileage is 18000. Updated 05/13/10.

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. She stated that while driving 35 mph the vehicle began pulling to the left and when applying the brakes, it would pull the steering wheel to the left. She had to use excessive force to control the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and they diagnosis indicated that the steering column needed to be repaired. The accelerator also became stuck, the vehicle accelerated, and within a few minutes the vehicle lunged forward. There have been no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 27000 and the current mileage was 38000.

The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac vive. While driving into a parking space attempting to park the vehicle at 5 mph when the gas pedal was engaged, the vehicle accelerated and crashed into a fence. She received a ticket for careless driving. The insurance company towed the vehicle to the body shop. The vehicle will be repaired. She sustained fractured bones and the passenger received injuries to their chest, ribs and knee. The failure and the current mileage were 3,000. Updated 3/16/10 the consumer attempted to stop the vehicle, however the pedal went to the floor. The air bags did not deploy during the accident. Updated 05/11/10.

The vehicle crashed into the garage door and the roof collapsed. There was an estimate of $9,000 for property damages. The driver sustained no injuries. The police was called to the scene. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealer. The vehicle sustained severe damages which were repaired for $9,000. The cause of failure has not been determined at this time. The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. While driving various speeds including approximately 35 mph, the contact attempted to engage the brake pedal he noticed that both the brake and accelerator pedal depressed at the same time. After examining the brake pedal the contact noticed that the brake pedal was only 3 inches apart from the accelerator pedal. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership. The current and failure mileages were 3400. Updated 03/04/10 on tow occasions the accelerator pedal jammed with the brake pedal operating. The brake collapsed and became the same height as the accelerator, which caused both to became depressed. Both the accelerator and brake pedals were very close together. Updated 05/17/10
