As part of NHTSA recall #15V285, issued Jul 24, 2014, GM recalled my Pontiac Vibe, informing me " these vehicles are equipped with a front passenger airbag inflator which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant.... improperly manufactured propellant could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant." At the time, the recall status was " incomplete. Remedy not yet available". it has been months since the recall was issued, with no change in status or additional information being provided as to when our cars will be fixed. Is this actually a recall" are these vehicles ever going to be repaired? I appreciate NHTSA's desire to warn drivers. However, this 'recall' increasingly feels like a car manufacturer freeing themselves of legal liability and passing the inconvenience of their mistake onto drivers, with no intention of actually resolving the problem. Is there anything I can do to get my passenger seat available for safe use again" thank you!

I received a recall notice for defective passenger airbags in July. It said I am not to use the front passenger seat. I need to use my front passenger seat. They say the repair is not available yet. Seven weeks have passed. I tried calling Pontiac/GM and was put on hold and then got a busy signal. Their chat line is down for "maintenance." They seem unwilling to fix a safety hazard. If someone is injured as a result, I'm holding them and you responsible.
