The contact owns a 1998 Pontiac Transport. Whenever the contact shifts from second to fourth gear, regardless if she is upshifting or downshifting, the vehicle begins to jerk during acceleration. Prior to the failure, she noticed that when the vehicle was first started, it began to vibrate. The failure occurs very inconsistently and the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The speed was not a factor. The current mileage was 139,000 and failure mileage was 136,000.

Tranmission will not hold at idle. When stopped on a grade, you must use both feet - one on the brake, to keep from rolling backward, and one on the accelerator. Dealer/manufacturer claims this is normal, and that it isn't designed to lock up until 2200 RPM. I've never driven an automatic transmission vehicle in my life that acted like this.
