I'm actually submitting this complaint way after the fact. I'm catching up now that I have something that will listen. I purchased my brand new 98 Pontiac Montana and 30,000 miles later the coolant light came on. I took it to the dealer and they said they could not detect a problem. Now 3 repair bills for leaks and hundreds of dollars of repair bills later that stem to coolant leaks, I'm on my fourth diagnosis. Unfortunately for me, the fourth leak was detected while in the middle of a $1500.00 repair to some wiring connectors that affect the fuel pump assembly, abs brakes and traction (out of control) system. My car has 130,000 miles now and if the mechanic was not in the middle of the repair, I would've scrapped the whole idea. Please keep your passenger side sliding door windows closed people, and you can avoid water getting in, leaking through the floor, and corroding these connectors located in the proximity of the middle row, driver side seat. The fuel pump in the gas tank is near the middle row seats and the other connectors are in the floor just below the middle row seat driver's side. $1500.00 later and a suggestive coolant system repair (related to the intake manifold gasket - really now...how'd they figure that out in 2 minutes????) of $1000 is pure garbage. My potential bill could be $2500.00. The American car industry customer service stinks!
The dealer service reps are on commission, so it is a definite rip off there. They have you over a barrel because the know you depend on your vehicle. On top of this, they want $112.00 diagnosis fee to tell you something that is wrong with your vehicle that they can figure out to begin with. This is not car mechanic rocket science. They know what the problem is because they fix it all of the time. What a Rip Off! These people need to be locked up. Signed, Unhappy there is not a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
p.s. You can multiply the coolant leak portion of this complaint by FOUR. I'm tired of writing about it now.
