I was on a trip 1000 miles from home visiting a friend overa holiday weekend. The car decided not to turn over. all the dash lights lit up like normal and everything worked it would only click though when trying to start. Turns out a connection on the Steering column was shorting out and if touched just right would allow everything to work. limped it home by nudging the panel under my feet every now and then. The frustrating part of this fix is GM did not sell the wiring connection for this. They sold the plastic housing for the connector but not the wires. I basically ended up building and soldering my own connection to the steering column. while cheap laying upside down under the dash in the freezing cold with hot solder over your head is not the best day I have ever had but it was a cheap fix.

it only happens after it rains or when I wash it, so it must be the water affecting the electrical system
