Here is the full rant..... any help?
I just purchased a 2006 Pontiac Torrent from a used dealership. Day 1 I had the check engine light turn on. It was an Evap sensor. Replaced the value and the canister and it still has that gas smell. Horrible smell still present. Maybe the computer isn't communicating with the new parts? I was told over and over again by other mechanics that it’s probably the computer (PCM) that needs a reflash. NO dealership in my area will do this. They want to give me a new one…. $400. No way.
Also, the “not starting†issue I read all over online. Most the replies on message boards state the Throttle Body needs cleaning. Anyone else do this and solves the problem? Build up of Carbon, etc causes this issue? Shouldn’t this be a Recall item if EVERYONE on EVERY message board has this problem and most of those poor people don’t know the issue?
Just got this vehicle about 4 weeks ago and its by far the most problematic ever. I should have learned after getting rid of my Grand Prix because of the countless problems it had while I owned it.
Is there anything GM can do to help out with this? Are there any recalls I should be getting taken care of?
Here are some of the sensors I had, got fixed, they came back and then went away magically….. P0455 – Evap (Valve and solenoid) P14 – EGR Valve [06-06-04-0088] P0171 – Fuel sensor [07-06-04-026A]
