I have had all 4 windows replaced and then the left and right passenger side replaced. The motors were going bad again and again. I am so tired of fixing his car. This is ridiculous!

I've replaced the driver's side front window regulator and motor and after 1 yr it's now broke again, this cost me nearly $400 to fix first time. Have not got money to refix again yet! Also the passenger's side window regulator and motor quit working, same problem. I've replaced it only 6 months ago and it cost me nearly $380 and now it won't stay up or go down again just like the driver's window. On top of that the driver's side back window will not go down for over 6 yrs now, I just leave it alone but would like to get it fixed when and if I ever can!

I wish the Pontiac would take us seriously and either do a recall to fix these parts better ( if they know how! ) or else just make all manual tool down windows. I've got a Dodge that's got over 200,000 miles and the windows are manual, but at least they work! It's hard on someone like me with health problems to deal with all this! I love my Pontiac Grand Prix GT, but the windows are a headache! Pontiac please listen to us!

huge pain... i could get the window down & then would have to use a screw driver to stick inside of it to make it go back up, then that wouldn't work after a while & it was stuck closed.

This one quit working about a month later, it still works sometimes though. If I had the option I would gladly have a hand crank window, with AC standard on everything I don't know why it's needed (although the AC on this car is another post...). I can't say that the last 2 failures are because of the car or cheap parts, but I suspect it's the car's electrical system. It's probably not getting enough power to the motor, at this point I've had 2 fail completely and another failing. I'll test with a voltmeter the next time i fix it.

Apparently these window motors are just crap, but I think the electrical system is burning them out as well, my driver side window has failed 3 times, if you see this post again, it's because I'm posting this 2 more times (in addition to countless other postings for this car alone).

With that said, the first time it happened, my window would not roll back up! very annoying! it rained in to the car a few times until i took the door panel off and replaced with parts off eBay, then it failed again, same story, this time I simply cut the cable that pulled the window up and wrapped it around a bold and tightened the bold back down, drove around opening my door at every trip to the bank, drive through, and road stop(almost had a gun pulled on me for that last one) then inspection sticker time came, and it was rejected due to the window. I didn't know that it was required to have an operational driver's side window in VA, but it is (for the purpose of writing you more tickets, not safety). So I had 15 days to fix it, and ebayed another motor, replaced and got the sticker. This one quit working about a month later, it still works sometimes though. If I had the option I would gladly have a hand crank window, with AC standard on everything I don't know why it's needed (although the AC on this car is another post...). The passenger side window stopped working for a couple months. Asked about getting it fixed when I had it in for some other repairs. Was told it was the motor and that it would be $600, but I chose not to have it done from lack of funds. Then one day it started working! To this day, it will work and not work randomly and I have started to notice it depends on the weather. If it is hot out, it wont work, when it is cool it does, but doesn't work in the winter either. I tried replacing the spark plugs and looked at the connecting wires but couldn't figure it out. Clearly it's not the motor and 3 out of my 4 windows do this.

3rd window to go was my back passenger. Like the other 2, it also works sometimes. How ironic is it that 3 out of 4 windows do this? And is it possible that all motors are gone? I am thinking it's more to do with wiring and I refuse to pay for a motor until it will not move at all.

This is the second window that has broken, our drivers side rear window regulator broke and have been unable to afford the $400 or more that it is going to cost to fix it. On June 20 my husband went to roll the driver side window down and it stopped half way, he tried it again and it went all the way down off track. There is no way to get it out of the door it is too far down and haven't been able to afford the $400 or more to fix it yet. I agree with a previous post that this is a pain due to having to swipe a card to get into parking garage at work and have to open the door anytime I need to have my window open. Have had plastic taped to the front window and the back window is taped up. This is really a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!

It seems like my drivers side window doesn't work only when I am in line in the drive thru at Taco Bell, Carls JR., ect. j/k. It doesn't go down at all for a couple days and the magically starts working again. This is extremely annoying since you can never predict when this is going to happen.
