I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix gtp and when I put the car into park the key will not come out. I have sat for ten and fifteen minutes at a time trying to get the key to come out of the ignition. It is very frustrating, especially when it is 95 degrees or better outside. It happens about 90% of the time when I drive the car. I have not been to get any parts replaced but I read on an internet blog, where people have the same problem with all different years and makes, that it cost about $400 to get the problem fixed.

Unable to remove key from ignition once the vehicle has been placed in park. I had this serviced twice by a local Pontiac dealer, but the problem remains.

When placing the key in the ignition, the engine will start, but when trying to release the key from the ignition it locks. This results in the battery running down and the inability to the lock car. Took car to a dealer in April 2004 and had problem repaired. The dealership replaced the gear shift indicator along with the ignition lock release. A week ago the exact same problem occurred again. Did not have any repairs since discovering this.

I had my wiring harness catch fire on 2-2-03 without warning. GM inspecting and I am still waiting on their report. However, after picking up the car from repairs on 2-15-03, I drove the car 2-15 and 2-16 and to work on 2-17. Upon returning to my car to start it, it would start and then die immediately. I had to have the car moved to the dealer. No warnings, no problems, no lights to tell me what might be the problem.

GMC is repurchasing car because it stalls for no reason. It will not stay running sometimes. No codes are present to diagnose per dealer. Car is a safety hazzard. Car is a lemon. Dealer cannot fix the problem.

I feel this vehicle has numerous safety defects. This car is to new to have had the items listed replaced. Unfortuneately the dealer cannot duplicate the problem with the acceleration. My children are very important to me and I will be trading this vehicle off very soon. I have asked 3 times for a component box and knowone can seem to locate one. I feel the dealership is falling short on their part of "obligated 36 months or 36,000 miles". this is the response I am getting from Pontiac. Unfortuneately "Alabama" is the only state that I know of that does not have a lemon law. Is there any other options that a consumer has and if there is what are they?

While driving at 65 mph vehicle totally shutdown, it was hard to steer/no lights, and no warning lights. This could have caused an accident. Consumer has experienced this problem 5 times, but not as bad as this time.
