Grand Am GT Coupe 3.4L V6

Was driving down the road one day when suddenly I hear a loud noise. I look beside me and my drivers side window disappeared and I kept hearing a rattle noise. I pulled into a parking and tried to roll it up and all I heard was a banging noise which was the window motor hitting the glass trying to push it up. Lucky the guy I bought it from replaced it free of charge for me. He had to replace the window regulator which was $100 for the part but he installed it himself. Have not had any troubles with is since.

Grand Am SE 3.2L V6

Second plastic mount on window (this time on the rear driver's side window) to break. Window will not stay rolled up. POS car. Was on a trip home from out of town and the thing broke, window would not roll up. Live outside of Houston, I am sure it will rain this week. Wouldn't be so bad had I not lost my job and haven't started my new one yet. I feel another $300 repair coming up. I have owned all GM cars my whole life. This will be the last. (Other problems, front window bracket broke with less than 36,000 miles, BOTH pieces of plastic molding on the front windows have peeled off, rear view mirror fell off with less than 15000 miles, brakes always make noise when wet (Moist), and the whole dash board is already warping).

The first time the plastic bracket broke on my Grand Am it was on the driver side window., I was returning on a trip 150 miles from home and the stupid window wouldn't roll down. I had 39 miles left on my warranty. Needless to say by the time I got home it had over 36,000 miles. Luckily it was stuck in the UP position because I live in a rainy part of the country. Took it to a GM Dealership in El Paso while I was visiting out there. They had the nerve to ask if someone had tried to break into the car. (instead of admitting that the mounting bracket was a plastic POS). Over 300.00 to fix it! This was the first time it happened. The same thing just happened on the driver rear window at 74000 miles! (not to mention the braking system sucks and the front plastic dash started warping last year!) Wonder why Pontiac is history? I bought the car with only 14000 miles on it, the rear view mirror fell off within a month of buying the car! Luckily I am better at mounting a rear view mirror than the people who assembled the car.

Just bought the car from my daughter. She has already had all 4 power windows worked on. The driver front window has been worked on three times (twice - the arn mechanism and once the motor) and now it is broken again! Not sure if it is the arm again or the motor.

The design of how the window mounts to the regulator is a poor excuse for engineering! the chep plastic that hold the glass in place become brittle and breaks. I has both mount break at the same time. could someone come up with fix for a poor design. I CAN SEE THIS HAPPENING OVER AND OVER HOPE NONE OF MY OTHER WINDOWS GOES AND HEAVEN FORBID IT HAPPENS IN THE WINTER OR WHEN ITS RAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So in addition the the rear window on the passenger side of my car dropping and becoming unusable, the same thing happened to the passenger side rear window. This time, however, it wasn't raining. My car looks extremely tacky now because I have resorted to jamming paper along both of my back windows in attempt to keep them up. Unfortunately they eventually fall when I pick up speed on the highway. It's quite embarrassing when I go to stores/work and have to struggle to pull my windows back up into a closed position. I always try to do it when no one is looking because I know it would make me a great target for a car burglar who knows that they can easily enter my car. Having 2 car windows permanently down is quite the nuisance. I'm never buying another pontiac!

One day while I was driving to work it began raining so I attempted to close my back window. The window didn't budge and eventually just slid down completely. It hasn't worked ever since. It's really annoying because no matter what I do to try to prop it up (tape, stuffing the sides with objects, etc.) the window keeps coming down. It's especially awful when the weather is bad or when I'm on the highway and can hear every vehicle that passes me.
