My Grand Am continued to make the blinker noise, sometimes only a few blinks at a time, and others during my entire drive. The problem got worse and worse, even though I did not have any blinkers out. The problem usually ignited after I used my turning signal, triggering the noise and usually sending it out of control. Eventually I took it in because of a tail light going out and we realized that my circuit board (which holds the light bulbs in place) was rusting. I ordered a new circuit board for $35.00 and my blinking noise is almost completely fixed. I still get minor blinks every now and then, but the constant blinking is gone. I'm going to now check the other circuit boards to see if I have similar problems in them as well. This may fix the problem altogether. What an annoying problem and embarrassing whenever anyone would ride in my car! This made drives across the state a nightmare!
