So our Granny has been an amazing car! But mid summer last year, 2009, she started idling really high. well...it didnt start until pep boys did their oil change. We normally do ours by ourself so after our car idled at 3000 rpm + we changed back to our originaly brand oil and oil filters and such. didnt help. She idles so high sometimes the brakes dont hold her back, we gotta throw it in neutral. (new brake job every 6mos) sometimes when the hubby leaves for work in the mornings it will idle high and once it heats up he'll shut it off at a red light and start it up and its fine. ??? sometimes it works sometimes it dont. sometimes it'll only calm it down to about 2000 or so. its a pain. we can start out on our road and not even have to push the gas, we still ride the break going up hills and such.
We own 2 grannys so i know all about the problems they have, but noone really has this one. ?? other than this our cars are fine. knock on wood..... anyone experienced this or know how to fix it??
also, sometimes when we are slowing down to stop, park, or make a turn it will completely die. it goes from idling high to having a surge and "flat lining" is this a tranny thing or engine? weve never done anything with the tranny bcuz GM makes it so difficult to get to the tranny fluid, but we r debating on a tranny flush this summer.
any suggestions??
