My 2006 GTO had a sloshing sound coming from behind and below the driver's seat which grew progressively louder over a month. Then, on a 200 mile trip through heavy rain, the driver's side floor pan filled with about 2 inches of water both in front and inback.
I brought the car to the dealer and they kept the car for 10 days during which time they removed all seats and pulled the carpet up (didn't remove all the way) and tried to find the source of the leak by spraying with water and running through a car wash. They could not duplicate the leak but resealed numerous seams in the floor pan. They mentioned tha I should make sure that the door is fully closed and windows were fully rolled up when driving in the rain.
The sloshing sound was still present when I drove out of the dealer!!!!! Luckily it was raining that day so I imediately took another long drive on the freeway. After about 4hrs of driving through the rain (during which the sloshing got louder and louder) the driver's side carpet began to get wet. It started in the bottom front left corner (just forward of the door and quickly spread backwards along the rocker panel area (between the seat and the door). I had a couple of friends ride and listen and they clearly heard the sloshing as coming from under the driver's side door (in the rocker panel area). By the time I got the car back to the dealer the next morning the entire driver's side floor pan was flooded again.
The dealer still has the car (6days so far) and they called to tell me that they found a leak coming from the front PASSENGER corner and that they will seal it up and give the car back in a day or two. Let first say that everyone at the dealership is very attentive and professional and that thier customer service has been excellent so far (calling me on almost a daily basis). HOWEVER, I don't believe that this will fix the problem. Clearly the driver's side rocker panel is filling up and spilling over into the driver's floor pan and I don't see how a PASSENGER side opening can cause this.
I have done some Googling on the internet and found that other people have had this problem. It seems that the drains of the rocker panel get clogged such that the panel fills up with water (sloshing) until it spills over into the driver's floor pan. I have read that the rocker panel is designed to collect water from the door area and drain it out at the bottom so it seems to me that it is a clog problem. I told this to the dealer and they politely listened but didn't seem to believe that was the problem.
We will see what happens This time I had
