Started about 3months ago when I'm driving the wheel would start to shake back& forward then as time went on the power steering light came on the wheel begin to shake at low speed and when car not moving. So I took to a few mechanic shops said it was a electrical problem with steering it was on recall. I took to dealer had a diagnostic check said needed a power steering control module and not on recall I called Pontiac they said same thing too, but when checking online it say is recall for that part.

Driving car steering wheel began to jerk to the left and right. Felt like there were detents in the feel of the steering wheel. Steering wheel began to feel like it was shaking to the left and to the right. Later stopped and parked at home and while car was at rest the steering wheel would move to the left and to the right by it's self. Drove car on 8/7/14 for a short distance and it was hard to control due to the wheel jerking.

I was traveling on U.S. 30 to greensburg, pa and I went on to the off ramp on to West pittsburgh street and the traction control, stability lights lit up. I look down at the dashboard to see what going on. Then, my car jerked suddenly backwards I hit my head two or three times off the head rest. I hit the on star button to report what has happened to verify the codes and told them the situation. The on star people didn't even ask me if I needed medical attention. So, I drove to the hospital that was 1/4 mile away. I was diagnosed with a head injury and received treatment for neck and back injuries.

Had the electric power steering module fail. Had the car fixed. Called Pontiac to inquire about the recalls issued earlier in 2014 pertaining to other 2008 Pontiac G6S recalled for this problem and was told that my car was not included in the recall. Cars produced before and after ours were included in the recall, but not ours. Made Pontiac aware of the situation and was given a case number of 71-1341653151. Not sure was to why our particular vehicle was not included in the recall. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was heading to work down the expressway. My steering wheel suddenly started to shake, I lost some power steering making it hard to keep my car straight. I almost hit the car next to me.the wheel would slow me to forcefully turn left or right. It was very hard to keep my car straight! for a couple of minutes I was swearving until my car regained full power steering.it goes I'm and out every 30 minutes of driving.turning the car off and on doesnt work in attempt to fix the problem.at stop lights and signs, my steering wheel will shake and turn by itselfand make a horrible noise.almost like it's grinding.I took the car in and the mechanic told me it was my power steering assist.I called a local kenny kent, ran my VIN number but no matches.I called Pontiac and itold them my on going problem.there was nothing they could do.this car is not safe.this problem is being recalled in other G6 2008, and I am experiencing the same problem!!! this part has never been fixed.

I have electronic power steering and the make, model and year are listed in GM's recall for the electronic power steering, however Pontiac customer assistance tells me my VIN is not listed in the recall but I am having the same issues (and they are documented at the dealership) as the vehicles that are to be recalled. GM needs to recall every vehicle that has malfunctioning electronic power steering for the years listed not just by certain dates they were built.

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden my car jerked to the right and put me and my kids into the ditch. This has happened twice. The second time it did it in the same direction(right) but when I hit the ditch smoke was coming into the heat vents while my kids were in the car. Brought it to the dealership they told me that my power steering line was broke and also I had a major oil leak and that it was a fire hazard. They then told me the price of how much to fix it. It is no longer under warranty. I don't feel I should have to pay for something that seems to be factory mistake. I've also had an incident of my car shutting off while driving. The ignition turned off while driving only going around a corner. I only had three keys on my ring at this time. This car has been the most dangerous car I've ever owned. The brakes and oil light constantly come on. The air bag light has been on since for over several thousand miles. Also the tire psi sensors are always going bad. The hazard switch hasn't worked in over two years as well. But every time I brought the car in even with a warranty they never fixed any of these problems. What's it have to take for this company to make this car safe?? dos to make my to fix their mistakes seems like someone's going to have to get in a fatal accident for something to be done. Also my back left seatbelt locked up on my son squeezing him and it wouldn't release. The belt had to be cut to get him out.

As I was pulling out of a parking space on my way to work this morning. I backed up to then go forward and turn to head out of my residence and the steering wheel would just turn, but the tires would not turn. I am leasing this car at drivetime. They're warranty will not cover this part, which is very upsetting as I have only had the car since may, 2014. I'm glad this happened in a safe area. I fear what would've happened if I were driving on the interstate as I always Transport back/forth to work/home. My life would've been in grave danger.

Steering wheel continues to shake and is hard to control, especially for a smaller woman. This has been going on now for over two years and is getting worse. At first the light only came on, then it shook here and there or it would shake until the power steering warning light came on then the shaking would stop. Now it is shaking uncontrollable and like I have mentioned it is hard for me to handle. It has jerked so hard several times to were I'm off the road or in the other lane. Until I can fix the issue myself I had to switch cars with my boyfriend especially since I have to take my son to daycare on a daily basis. I bought this car from a dealership around 46,000 miles on it and it probably started no more than 75,000 miles. I am aware there are recalls but I have called and entered the VIN myself and it shows no recalls. I have also checked to see if it would be covered under the extended warranty GM issued, which is within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 150,000 miles (240,000 km), whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Once again, I've been told by two dealerships my car does not qualify. The car displays the same issues that other GM cars have been recalled on but yet it does not qualify. I assume it takes more complaints and unfortunately more injuries and deaths for it to qualify.

Vehicle battery was drained overnight from consumer electronics (dvd charging, gps) to the point when attempting to start near zero voltage with inside lights shutting off. Charged with 10 amp battery charger to full battery. Afterwards key fobs would not work. Did not think much of it. After a few days of driving noticed the tire pressure info was all -- (not posting). Tire pressure system monitoring was completely off with no notification to driver. Found several sites that say a G6 can lose it's tire sensor/key fob memory from a slowly draining battery and must be taken to a dealer to fix it. Took it to a GMC (formerly Pontiac) dealership, $95 later only got the tires working again. Newer vehicles have a procedure for owners to initiate this setup themselves and reprogram the tires and key fobs, but not 2008. The lack of tire pressure sensors when they were there prior should trigger at minimum a warning on every start. It can tell me I need an oil change every day. For this to happen because of a low voltage event is terrible circuit design / bad programming. If an owner charges his kid's dvd player and it kills the battery the next day the mandatory tmps system may not work, and not work without warning. Hopefully the day the dvd player needs a charge isn't the same day they develop a medium leak driving down the mountains of Utah, because the driver won't be notified the system forgot the sensor id's and doesn't care about those pressure readings anymore, even the falling pressure on the tire holding the car in the correct lane at a 8% grade, downhill. #1 fix the safety issue. #2 don't charge me to re-program something that is not safe and was corrected on newer vehicles.

I was braking on the highway at 60 mph and all of a sudden my power steering failed. Luckily no crash occurred. Tried contacting GM and they said because my VIN was not on the recall notice they couldn't do anything to resolve this issue. GM needs to look into this matter and see if anyone else from this factory has dealt with similar issues and issue a recall for more vehicles.

Over the last couple weeks while driving or backing out the driveway my steering has locked up making it hard to steer. The car dinged and on the radio display it said power steering so I thought I just needed some fluid so I went to auto zone thinking power steering fluid where I learned it was electronic my car doesn't take fluid. I googled to find where to take it when I discovered there was a recall for 2008 Pontiac power steering. Went to a dealership and my car has the exact same recall problem but didn't somehow make the cut they recalled vehicles manufactured 10/07 & up mine was 08/07 according to the tag dealership says it will be 700 to repair which I do not have but I commute 1 hour each way to work daily. GM needs to reexamine this recall because they missed a few vehicles.
