Once again Pontiac can kiss my ass. The rotors were warped when I first got it. Got them replaced and the same sh*t happened again. So f*ck it.

G6 GT 3.5L V6

My husband and I bought our 2008 G6 with 22k miles in Feb. 2009. It was a program car but it was also the GT model with all the bells and whistles, except the Sun and Sound package. After a few months, we noticed the car's braking was getting worse. We took the car back to the dealer who then resurfaced the front rotors at 36k miles. The braking was improved only by a fraction but it gradually became worse.

At 45k miles, my husband decided enough was enough and took the car back to the dealer who refused to exchange the rotors. After speaking with a head mechanic at another dealer, the mechanic advised us to buy the drilled and slotted rotors and put them on ourselves. We went to Napa and bought the drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads and put on the front of the car. In parts alone, we spent $400 for just the front rotors and brake pads. Luckily, my husband is mechanically inclined and was able to do all the work himself without having to take the car to a garage.

At 56k miles, we replaced the rear rotors and brakes with a mid-grade rotor and semi-metallic pads with a price tag of $300 and my husband doing all the work. We've not had any problems out of the front or rear rotors or pads since.

We were later told from the people at Napa that the local dealer was ordering the drilled and slotted rotors from the Napa warehouse instead of getting the GM replacement parts. The original rotors are terrible and the replacements are the same thing. So be aware of what parts are being put on your car if you do not buy the parts yourself and take them to the garage. You might be sitting yourself up with the same headache.

After purchasing a GM Certified used car, I drove 1000 miles and the brakes were shot. The dealer resurfaced the rotors, I feel they should have replaced them. They told me the rotors went bad from sitting on the car lot for 3 weeks. I have read many complaints saying other wise. Now after 2000 miles, when I brake, my brakes are making a clunking sound, most likely the calibers... great!! I bought a $15,000 turd...AWESOME!!

Squeaky brakes, pads needed to be changed, rotors needed to be re-surfaced. Not under warranty. Very annoying since the problem was mentioned to dealership last year with only 14000km & they said the noise was normal. The problem got worst, had to pay to get it fixed, The dealership is telling us it's wear & tear, I saw plenty of complainst on different website about the same problem, GM should have a recall.

Now after this, I will not buy a car from Gm, I'll go somewhere else.

Had the car barley 2 months. When I would break the car would shake. I took it back to the dealer who told me that the rotors needed to be resurfaced. Which they did and cured the issue. Thanks GM for a quality product!

I drive less than 10k a year and lease my g6 from Pontiac, there shouldn't be a rotor problem after 7500 miles. After many days of searching the net i found that there is a problem with the metal that year. I called to have the problem fixed at my dealership and they said they could turn the rotors once for free but the problem is not going to be fixed in another 5k or so the problem will be back. I called GM and they said after i have them turned and if it comes back that they MIGHT do something then.

GM should just suck it up and do a recall on the G6 and fix the rotor problem before someone gets hurt or killed but apparently that is what it's going to take.
