My Pontiac G6 has had an exterior lighting issue since August of 2012. Pontiac will not help me fix this. The brake lights do not work when you press the pedal and turn on without the pedal being pressed. My cruise control no longer works period. A GM technician looked at my car and could not find anything that he could do to fix it. When he used the tech 2 tool, he would try and turn one tail light on and the opposite would turn on instead. Pontiac will not even look at my car at any dealer for free. They want me to pay and maybe get reimbursed for it. I have many issues with my car but this is the worst. My panoramic sun roof leaks and makes a ton of noise while I drive. The sun shade fell off on it as well.

I financed this used car in 2010 at 27,000 miles. Since I have had this car I have not had the chance to really enjoy it because I am constantly fixing on it. I ave had a lot of problems. I have replaced brakes 2X once with rotors and they are goin out again including rotors. I am constantly replacing tires. My steering wheel pops when turning and I have had this fixed once. Traction gone. Had heat/air on and smoke smelling like a firecracker came from passenger dashboard. My biggest problem right now is that I had the whole suspension system replaced and now I am constantly replacing the lugs on my front left tire because the constantly pop off. Brake lights and headlights constantly goes out. Air bag, engine, and traction light goes on and off (sometimes staying on). Power in driver door gone out for windows resulting in 3 windows unable to roll up/down but will work when wants. Only one will go down using its own panel. Replaced a crack in lca. Remote starter gone out. Car wheel shakes occasionally. Interior lights doesn't work except front dashboard but minus where gear shaft at (went out after smoke from dashboard). Needs struts to be replaced. Also jerks with a huge pop that you can feel when putting car in gear. When accelerating you can feel it shift gears. I am currently only at about 83000 miles. Nothing but trouble. Scared serious accident may happen because of the lugs constantly poppin off. We don't know why. I called Pontiac and GM and no recalls on this car except power-train and warranty for trans and none of this was covered by warranty or them period. Tired of this car so tired!! GM and Pontiac need to do something this is terrible to only be a 2007.

Cruise control was active-on; windshield wiper was on 'fast pulse'; rain was moderate to heavy; road was hilly; event: When the cruise needed to decide to shift gears going up a hill the wipers stopped long enough for the rain to obscure all vision. The stopping was repeatable by setting up similar settings when the rain/road conditions allowed. This condition even occurred at 35 mph, with cruise on, with wiper fast pulse in light rain, again obscuring forward vision, on a much less hilly terrain. Discussions with GM at the time resulted in the statement that because GM or the dealer could not 'observe' the 'stoppage' that 'it did not occur.' Several attempts were made to get the information to the appropriate internal GM group but none responded. Since the condition occurred both in hilly/mountain terrain and in hilly city terrain it seems that it would be an important issue to resolve -- due to the lack of forward vision at the time of occurrence.

The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated the power windows would open and close independently without being activated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,200.

Grinding noise comes from steering column when accelerating and turning at same time (I.e. turning from one road to another after stopping at signal or sign). Has done it since 2008. Bought the car new in Aug 07. Also, driver's side window will go down like it is supposed to when door is opened but intermittently goes back up all the way right after door is opened. Have to hit the unlock or lock button to get it back into place.

G6 6-cyl

  • 6,500 miles
Situation: The G6 was on cruise control at about 50 mph, the road was in Vermont hills/mountains, the weather was raining -- from light to an increasing intensity. The wipers were turned on to the low pulse setting, and as the rain intensity increased the pulse frequency was increased one step at a time. When the pulse was at its fastest, and the G6 was proceeding up an incline and the cruise logic was in the process of deciding to shift gears, the windshield wipers stopped enough to obscure all vision. This condition repeated itself until I changed the pulse setting to constant. Then, again, but this time in West lafayette traveling from the main road North out of town up route 443 between route 43 and 52 on cruise at 35 mph in a rain with the wipers on fast pulse the wipers stopped and vision was obscured. Sooo, the hill/incline does not have to be 'mountainous' or very long in duration. The dealer in vt suggested I should just put it on constant pulse to avoid the issue -- duh. The dealer in Michigan attempted to replicate the condition but city traffic, etc. Prohibited the 'experiment'. the GM customer relations contacts simply kept telling me that the condition 'did not exist' because it could not be replicated -- which was the same as calling me a liar. Duh. Yet the GM cr would not allow me to discuss the issue with anyone involved with the vehicle design or build -- because "it could not be duplicated" yet I duplicated the vt occurrence in Illinois in different terrain. Since the 'hill' in West lafayette is very typical of hills in most of the states in the usa it is likely that anyone driving in the conditions noted would experience the same result. Yet, no one in GM will sit and discuss this at a functional level. When the wiper stops and no one can see out the front windshield, whether traveling at 50 or 35 mph the condition is very critical and a serious accident can occur. I have been trying to discuss this frequently since it occurred.

As a consumer I am writing you this letter to lodge a complaint for the car/lemon I have been leasing. The type of car I am leasing is a 2007 Pontiac G6 4 door sedan, #. since leasing this vehicle I have many concerns of not only my own safety but the safety of other people on the road. Here are the following issues since leasing this car: 1.replaced signal switch located on steering column on 1/16/08 2.replaced right visor for mirror on passenger side of car 1/16/08 3.replaced broken cable for right rear window regulator on 3/14/08 4.replaced steering column on 7/28/08 5.replaced front brakes with high end pads estimated date 8/08 6.replaced rear left bulb for brake lights estimated date 10/08 7.about a month after steering column was replaced the steering column again was making a clicking sound when turning right and left at a slow rate of speed. 8.instead of replacing the steering column they chose to lube intermediate steering shaft instead on 1/20/09 and I will have to keep coming in when the lube wears off!! really me having to come in every month or so!! that was their response to me!! 9.replaced radio because it didn"T come on when I turned on the car the display was blank. Would eventually turn on when it wanted to replaced on 1/20/09 also in researching the steering column problem some peoples steering wheels have locked up and they were almost involved in accidents and said in there complaint does somebody have to be killed before GM has a recall on these cars?" it has been a known issue since the first model year 2005 has come out. Per dominic torres my sales rep this has been a known issue but there have not been very many complaints lodged for any recall. Per dominic it is because the steering column is electrical instead of using fluid and the design was changed in the 2008 model year. GM has contacted me and said they are not willing to lease a new car to me to replace this one. It will be re-poed shortly.

Passenger window has extremely bad whistle road noise. I have reported this to the dealer 4 times! they cannot seem to fix this issue. As a result, it has rained inside of my vehicle causing both seatbelts to mildew. The dealer has replaced both seatbelts. Also, the brakes have squealed since I bought the car brand new in 2007! the dealer cannot seem to get this taken care of either.

The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. From the date the vehicle was purchased, the sun visor on the driver's side hangs down six inches over the steering wheel. He took the vehicle to the dealer on several occasions; however, the manufacturer did not approve the repair of the vehicle. As a result, the dealer does not want to void the warranty and perform any repairs. The dealer replaced the visor once, but the same failure has recurred; therefore, the manufacturer stated that the visor was designed in that manner. The current mileage is 18,000 and the failure mileage was 966. Updated 6/2/08
