Power steering not working, took vehicle to dealer 2/06/15 for recall as I'd read online about it. Dealer advised vehicle not covered by the recall, to contact GM directly. Just off phone with GM, told them I got email from NHTSA, and that NHTSA said it was a recall (NHTSA email cites various id #, 15V06400, expansion of 14V-153, GM#14772, recall #N140115). The GM operator suggested we bring it to a dealer & pay for the repair and ask them to validate if its covered by a recall, but said it is not covered. We do not see how it can't be covered, the car is in every parameter of the recall and is having the identical symptoms, including "power steering" appearing in the driver info center in the center of the dash. Report receipt date: Feb 04, 2015 NHTSA campaign number: 15V064000 component(s): Steering vehicle makemodelyear(s)2007pontiacg6details manufacturer: General Motors llcsummary: General Motors llc (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu maxx vehicles manufactured April 1, 2006, to June 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (eps) assist that could occur at any time while driving. Consequence: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14772. Note: This is an expansion of recall 14V-153 to cover additional vehicles built between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006. Note.

As soon as I drove the car down my street, the power steering went out. I was alerted by a ding and then a message. I pulled over as best as I could and turned my car off and restarted. I got about 1 1/2 miles and onto a major street before it happened again. Again, I pulled over and turned off my car, then restarted it. As soon as I pulled away from the curb, it happened again. Thankfully I was on a straight road, otherwise I would have been in a very bad position. When I got to my destination (I continued because I was unable to turn the wheel to turn around) I nearly was in a wreck because it was so so hard for me to run the wheel, the car behind me wasn't ready for that. I did turn on my hazards just in case. I took it to my local GM dealership and was informed that it was a safety issue but because my vehicle make model and year had not been part of the recall, I would have to pay out of pocket. Estimation = $900 approx. I'm deeply concerned about the safety of my family as well as others who own this vehicle. It clearly isn't safe enough to be on the roads. Why have all of the other years been recalled for this very same issue, but 2007 hasn't?!

Without warning steering wheel starts to shake and then it lose power steering, you lose control and have to put effort into steering it so you don't crash. You can shut car off and when you restart the power steering seems fine and then it starts again with no warning. Very dangerous situation car manufacturer needs to include 2007 in their recalls!!!! almost went into a tree.

I was driving on the highway at 65mph when I heard the ringing sound on my dashboard indicating power steering. The steering was blocked. Because it was on a straight road I was able to pull over by the road side. I turned off the engine and restarted the car. I am having to do this everyday when the power steering light turns on. When the power steering light is on the steering is blocked, I cant turn the car. From December 20 2014 till this day, this occurs about 4 to 5 times a day with my car.

While driving 2 chimes sounded and power steering suddenly went out. Was able to drive home, about 15 miles, without power steering and once engine was turned off and back on power steering resumed. It seems the 2006 and 2008 models of this vehicle were recalled for similar complaints but not the 2007 which I own.

The power steering light was blinking on the console off and on since I bought the car (March 2013). The power steering would shake, make clicking noises (I had repeatedly called the place I bought the car at and they said since the car was bought used and they are not a service station it was not their problem). The power steering went completely out. I had to turn off the car to get it to reset. The power steering has been going out off and on since Jan. 2014. I saw on the news that GM was recalling power steering for the G6S but only on some not all. If you investigate online..this is a huge issue with all models of Pontiac G6. I called GM at the time of the recall and they said that if my car was included in the recall I would receive a notice. Well I haven't received that notice to date and this is definitely a problem since this car is doing the exact same thing that the recall states for the other years...this problem is definitely affecting the 2007 G6 as well as all of the other years. Its completely unsafe to drive these vehicles on the road!

Problems: Power steering randomly stops working, steering wheel will shake. When first starting car radio screen reads "power steering". no power steering, often turning car off then back on temporarily fixes issue, but it soon returns. Yesterday morning I was driving the 2007 Pontiac G6 and the power steering stopped working and caused to go off the road. After getting it toed home power steering is completely gone. I have already contacted GM (yesterday) and they informed me that even though it was displaying the exact same symptoms of a faulting steering column from similar vehicles recalled ( 2005, 6 8 and 9 Pontiac G6S) it was not covered under the recall so I would have to pay out of pocket. I went online and found hundreds of complaints about 2007 G6 steering columns problems but they had the same problem.
