The gas smell is so bad. When I go to the mall the gas smell is so bad the people around me turn around to see were the smell is coming from. It is so embarrassing and dangerous.

Strong odor of gasoline both inside and outside the vehicle. Odor strongest near the right rear wheel well area. Had a dealership replace the fuel pump assembly. The leak was traced to a broken (cracked) plastic elbow on top of the fuel pump. The elbow was part of the high pressure fuel supply line. GM has issued a recall for this issue on the Pontiac G5, but for some reason refuses to recognize the same problem on the G6. This is definitely a safety issue.

Everyday I get in the car to go to work and the gas smell is so bad inside the car by the time I get to work I throw up The smell has gotten real strong I am scared it will catch fire. I also has steering problems brake and many more with this vehicle.

Update from Apr 13, 2017: well The Smell Has Gotten Worse its been 2 years and no recall I spend a lot of money on this vehicle for repairs why don't they fix this one that is a hazard I cant fill my tank up only half way because of the smell when summer gets here the smell is stronger and know when I go to put gas The nozzle wont fit cause the inside of the tank turns when you insert the gas nozzle you have to reach inside the tank and turn to make it fit I guess someone is going to have to burn up before they consider it dangerous I bet they would not let there daughter ,mother or family drive it like that then it will be a issue if it s not safe for your family why is it safe for mine

Why are they letting people drive around with a time bomb...leaking fuel tank dripping on muffler?????? wth! The fuel tank would be the last thing that I would think I would have to replace at 88000 miles...$531.29 for the part?????and $274.40 for labor...General Motors is full of it. Will never ever buy another GM product...and now I see they are reducing the warranties on new vehicles...what a sad state of affairs.

Update from Mar 20, 2015: $531.29 auto zone 308 including az tax

274.40 jackleg mechanic in his driveway at 7pm at night--$100.00 and no it is not leaking and works well. no more gas smell ....the gas line which was provided with the part when purchased had split and was leaking gas. New gasket with part...it is hard to do...it took him from 7pm to 11pm to fix it...figuring the best way to do things was the time consumer. He had never done one on a Pontiac. Also call and see if its on recall list because some years are.

Had same problem with car not starting and having the smell of gas outside and inside of car. Co-worker told me it was the spark plugs and fuel filter but after hearing all the problems people are having and what I have is the same problem, GM needs to get off there asses and send out a recall for the 07 G6 fuel problem before they have another law suit of car catching fire.

i really want my car repaired. the car is very nice but the smell of gasoline is awful, we are concerned of major problems. this should be a major recall without any problems. we have grandchildren and children that ride in the back seat. we should not have to wait for something to occur before the problem is fixed.

broken gas filler neck and gas smell

My 2007 G6 Pontiac has a cracked gas filler neck and now it just plain old torn to pieces. It takes a long time to put gas in the car because it keeps turning around and around. Also, the gas smell is making me sick. I have been suffering with on-going chest congestion aside from the ordinary bronchial problems. I didn't realize that this is a universal problem until last week. Up until that time, I just didn't know what to do because I didn't have money to get it fixed. I understand that GM is recalling the 2007 G5 Pontiacs, but it also needs to recall this model as well because it has the same problem.

Update from Dec 7, 2015: Well, I'm at 99,360 miles and I had the gas neck replaced at a dealership in Terrell. However, it doesn't appear to have been installed very well because it has movement AND the gas smell is back and has been back for about 6 months (not quite as strong). It was so strong that my cousin smelled it while the car was parked in the driveway. I just think that there is something wrong with the entire fueling system.

gasoline ODOR IS OVERPOWERING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. NO LEAKS UNDERNEATH VEHICLE DETECTED.

Update from Jun 25, 2013: I took the vehicle to the GM dealer and it was a cracked line in the gas fuel pump. Dealer had a pump in stock and it was covered under the 5yr/50K mileage warranty.
