Clunking noise when steering(intermediate steering shaft).

While driving slow and turning left I heard a "clank" sound coming from the left front area of the car. I was told that Pontiac had a tech service which indicated a steering linkage part needed to be taken apart and oiled and put back. GM also has a kit that was installed.
