Engine fire occurred during normal start-up due to a faulty fuel regulator. Fire damaged engine and numerous electrical components in the engine compartment. Pontiac claimed responsibility, and agreed to re-purchase vehicle. The amount offered by Pontiac was considerably less than purchase price.

I have been having problems starting my 2000 Bonneville. I often have to pump the gas to start my car. I see from this site that there is a recall on the fuel pressure regulators on alot of the vehicles. I have gas backing up into the intake manifold through a vacuum hose which is a symptom of this. I plan on contacting the 800 #'s from this site asap since a possible occurence could be that the engine can start on fire.
