Love my car but not able to get inspected. Car takes off fine when shifting from 1st it goes into limp mode let off the gas and give gas again it shifts and then works fine. No down shifting problem. Check engine light is on and the codes say o2 sensor and they have been replaced had engine light turned off and it still does the same thing and engine light came back on with same codes. Found a few recalls but I never got a notice and have owned this car for 12 years. I have seen where other people have had same problem but fix.

Aztek 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,000 miles

transmission started slipping in the fall of 2010, not all the time only sometimes, which in my opinion, is really bad. I would slow down, almost to a complete stop, or stop at a red light or stop sign and the transmission would slip in between gears so it would end up being a VERY slow and sometimes dangerous start. Most of the time this car has pretty good "giddy up" but when this issue occurs it is very frustrating and like I mentioned before often dangerous if you are trying to do a quick maneuver. Normally it will adjust itself and get back to where it is supposed to be in about a minute. During the slippage, the rpms rev very high and the motor whines a bit. Over the last two years, the problem does occur more frequently.
