  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles
The contact owns a 1999 Plymouth Voyager. The contact could not start her vehicle and it was towed to a mechanic. The mechanic stated that a cylinder in the tumbler, where the key is placed in the ignition to start the vehicle, failed. The failure first occurred at 60,000 miles and recurred on September 7, 2007. The vehicle cannot start once this component fails. The vehicle is no longer under warranty and the contact was informed that she would be responsible for the repair. She believed it was a defect that failed every 50,000 miles and she should not be responsible for the repair. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and has not been repaired. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 119,000 and failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 10/24/07.

  • 57,000 miles
: the contact stated while driving 30mph, the airbag warning light illuminated without any prior warning. Afterwards, the dash panel clock, radio, and heating defroster stopped working. The contact parked the vehicle and attempted to turn the engine off. The key would not release from the ignition and the engine continued running. After multiple attempts, the contact removed the battery cables from the battery and reattached them. The engine stopped running, but the clock and radio illuminated indicating normal function. Although the key remained in the ignition, the vehicle was not seen by a dealer.
