- the contact stated that on December 7, 2006, while driving a 1999 Grand Voyager SE at 3 mph she saw flames in rearview mirror. The contact stated that the stereo system's speaker was on fire. However, no one was injured in the fire, but that fire spread to the 3rd row seat, and the rear driver 's side window exploded. The headliner of the passenger compartment had to be replaced. The contact stated that the equipment was not under a safety recall. However, the 2000 and 2002, Plymouth Grand Voyager did have safety recalls for condensation from the instrument panel air conditioning ducks which may drop through vent holes in the top of the radio, resulting in a short circuit that subsequently sent direct current to the rear speakers. This could result in a speaker fire due to a short circuiting of the wiring that leads to the rear speaker potentially causing a fire." The contact stated that her insurance agent determined that the source of the fire was the connector between the radio and speaker.
