Bought this car for a friend in need about a year ago for $2250 on eBay with only 48,000 miles! Nice, but very base car (manual windows, no cruise, no tilt-wheel, no passenger air-bag, no trunk light!) VERY clean engine compartment (almost looks new), scratches on paint, but paint is good. Drove it over 4 hours to home w/o a problem, ran very well at first but then problems happened.. First struts went out, $200 per strut + labor. Next a/c failed, spent about $1500 to diagnose several times and finally replaced several components. Replaced timing belt per maintenance, much cheaper than most 4 cylinders, about $200 (does not run off water pump like most do.) Car runs okay but gas mileage getting worse and worse, check engine light on. Most garages don't have the necessary code reader for this year car (1995 and up), if I had known that I wouldn't have bought the car. O2 sensor on the way to hopefully fix the problem. Air-bag fault light now stays on, spent another $100+ to diagnose that, was told the clock-spring is bad. Bought a hard-to-find new clock-spring from a dealer for $300, had it installed and it didn't fix the problem... There is still a problem with the a/c, not blowing cold enough, going back into the shop. After that, going back to another shop to find out why the clock-spring didn't solve the problem. I've spent more money on this piece of sh*t than I originally bought the car for. Right now I want to drive it off a cliff..
