The child seat failure we experienced can easily go undetected. The cable connecting the latch plate to the seat belt retractor mechanism has broken which prevents the seat belt from tensioning and restraining our child. I F the driver does not have detailed understanding of how the seat belt should work the driver will be lulled into a false sense of security. When Chrysler was contacted they offered to pay for half of the repair. I believe this is a design flaw that should be repaired by the manufacturer. I have owned reliable child seats which have endured for many years, all of which were far less expensive and none with such a silent and dangerous defect. I would appreciate your assistance and believe that this matter should be pursued for the benefit of the other unknowing drivers.

I was driving on a highway when I was rearended. I was going about 35-40 mph and the person who hit me was estimated to be going 50 mph. I was wearing a set belt. The seat belt did not work. There was no sensation of being held back and no shoulder injury. My face hit the steering column and I suffered multiple facial fractures and cuts, requiring 25 stitches. I have permanent nerve damage on my face and lips.
