2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette: Intake manifold leaking coolant. Understand it is a defect. Requires constant attention, oil changes and addition of coolant. Understand electrical problems are a defect as well. Have been experiencing them since purchase.

Intake manifold gasket failed April 2004. GM replaced gasket with new improved gasket. Gasket fails again after only 22000 miles. New gasket installed along with new fuel injector. Spent a few thousand dollars in repairs.

2000 Silhouette van - [xxx] - leaked dexcool from a faulty lower intake gasket and shorted out plugs. Repair cost approximately 700 usd. Upon research and advice from our auto mechanic, this is a very common issue with these vehicles however GM refuses to issue a recall. The gaskets are plastic and will fail from 30,000 - 70,000 miles. Our vehicle had 53088 miles at the time. It is difficult to consider buying "american" when the product and support from the american company is so poor.
