The van belongs to my dad, just to clarify. A couple weeks ago, they needed to take a long trip for a medical procedure. They didn't even make it out of town before the van overheated, and had to come back home (I had to drive them down in my car, we were almost late). I took the van to a mechanic a couple days ago and the mechanic put some kind of UV dye in the antifreeze. Could not find any leaks anywhere so it was given the ok to make a trip again.

Once again they headed out of town, and they made it a little further out of town this time. The van suddenly overheated and started shaking. Dad pulled over on the highway and popped the hood. Antifreeze was pouring out of the head gasket. We had to call a tow truck to get it home, and there it sits in the driveway - it will cost as much to drop a new engine into it as it will to buy a good used car.
