Trouble starting the car on occasion, "misfiring" on occasion and outright no starting led us to have the crankshaft sensor, starter and camshaft sensor (twice) replaced, at a cost of over $900. Further we responded to recall N140350 "unintended ignition key rotation". the dealer replaced a rubber ring in the key to stop the weight of the keys from turning the ignition off. (I think?) after all that the car does start but occasionally on the highway it will stop running, with no other noticeable problems. We would pull over (not always easy to do in a highway!) and the car would start up immediately. Sadly this has happened 5 times in the past two weeks. We are afraid to use our car, which is a 52,000 mile beauty but too dangerous under these conditions.

The contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle shut off and the buzzer on the dashboard beeped. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and was restarted. The contact called the dealer who was unable to explain the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure recurred twice, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

My car stalls while I'm moving! I bought the car from a used lot in Aug 2014, shortly after I received a recall notice. I took the car in to a dealer and the dealer put shells over the keys & supposedly didwhatever else was required in the recall. Shortly after that, I was having a hard time starting the car, I took it back to the lot where I bought it this time. Their mechanic checked it out & determined the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. So they replaced it. Recently my car is having a hard time starting but more importantly, my car will stall while I'm driving! this is scary to be going 25-45 mph and not be able to control my car! this morning I slowed down to turn a corner & it just shut off on me and I could not turn the wheel! caused my to come about 2 feet from hitting a median & almost be rear ended! my kids rode in this vehicle & one or all of us is gonna end up seriously injured or killed! this seems to be a serious issue with these vehicles & it needs to be fixed & quickly! I can't keep praying to have this fixed once a year nor should I have to! this issue needs to be addressed immediately & there should be a recall out regarding this issue!

Security light had been coming on and off for a few days. I stopped at a card lock petroleum station for gas I went to start car and nothing, engine didn't even turn over. A local farmer gave me a jump, still nothing. I used his cellphone to call a mechanic friend of mine, he told me it to wait 15 minutes and try again. He said if it still didn't start that I would have to reset it and so I wrote down the instructions said thank you to the gentleman for the use of his phone. I waited still nothing. I performed the procedure turning the ignition on for ten minutes off for 5 seconds and repeat and so on. I live in North Dakota this was in January and it was below zero. I put on a pair of insulated overalls and a full length ww II navy pea coat. I was getting scared, it was now dark and I hadn't seen anyone since the farmer. I was really getting cold, my hands, feet nose and ears were starting to ache a little. I spent another 3.5 hours trying to start my car. Thank god a couple stopped for gas or I wouldn't have survived.by then I was really worried about my feet I new they were frostbite. I was very lucky I still have all ten toes. When I found out this is a common problem for GM cars and thousands of people have been left stranded and no one has addressed it, I was in was in total disbelief. General Motors employees CEO to sales to Mr. Goodwrench should be ashamed of their neglect.

Ever since 2010, I have been dealing with a serious GM passlock anti-theft system issue. It began with my vehicle not starting one day. It had power; all of the dash lights worked, radio, etc..., but it would not start. At first, I had no idea what to do, but I would always somehow get it to start after a lot of punching of the dashboard and shifting my gears rapidly over and over again. The problem slowly started occurring more frequently and I began to do some research on it and figured out that it was indeed an passlock system malfunction after confirming that my security light would blink when the vehicle would not start. I could get it to start after waiting 10 minutes with the key in the on position, when the security light would stop blinking after that 10 mins, I would turn it back to the off position and then back to the on position and it would start up, resetting the passlock system. Eventually, in 2012, the problem was occurring usually every 3rd attempt at starting up, and the passlock system reset trick would not work 9/10 times, it would sometimes take hours for me to get it to start. In November of 2012, I was driving on the highway and my car slowly starting shutting down, all warning lights flashing, and all the interior lights dimmed down to nothing, luckily I was able to pull over unharmed (also about 2 weeks before this, my driver's side turn signal relay system completely blew/failed). I found out that my alternator was completely drained and dead, so I replaced it. This fixed the problem for about 2 months, and then it started occurring again every now and then and has been occurring intermittently ever since; the passlock reset is currently working. Considering that the alternator was only a temporary fix, this is obviously a malfunction of the GM passlock system. This is very dangerous and has caused harm to my life (eg. School & job effected)

I noticed the headlights dimming on their own about a week after I first started driving the vehicle. It occurs intermittently, and very often. I have heard the headlights switching into different modes like this both a night and during the daytime hours. This poses a serious distraction to oncoming traffic on highways and other roads and could confuse other drivers at stop signs. GM should address this issue immediately; I have seen many other complaints on this very same issue. [note: I believe this issue may also be linked to a serious issue with the turn signal relay system. I have had intermittent blinker issues and failures on both passenger and driver side since 2010, and it does not appear that the replacement of the turn signal relay system solves the problem, it did not for me (filed separate complaint for turn signal issues experienced)]

My blinkers on the driver's side (front and back) began to malfunction and would only work intermittently in 2010. This went on for about a year and then the passenger side blinkers (front and back) began to malfunction in the same manner about 6 months later. This went on with both sides working only intermittently for 2 years. Then, suddenly while driving at night and trying to make a left turn in mid 2012, the passenger side blinker started making very loud electrical glitch sounds and then completely blew and my car died with it. I had to replace the alternator shortly after and the passenger side blinkers worked perfectly, but I had to drive with out my driver's side blinkers until mid 2013, when I could not pass dmv required inspection. I paid to have the driver's side blinker relay system replaced and it worked for about a month but then both driver and passenger side blinkers started working intermittently again. Within 1 month, the driver's side blinker relay system completely failed again (passenger works, except I have to wiggle and mess with the emergency hazards lights to get it to even turn on at all). Now I have one pair of blinkers not working at all, and one that is intermittent, 3/4 of the time it works but only if I distractedly wiggle my hazard light button while trying to turn or change lanes. Mechanics are baffled and don't know what too tell me! this is a dangerous condition for anyone to be driving with and I fear it will cause an accident someday soon. I have also had the same issue with my headlights intermittently dimming that has been reported by many GM consumers since I started driving the vehicle in 2007. I do not want to have to pay another mechanic to replace my driver's side turn signal relay system, just for it fail again due to these dangerous electrical system problems in my 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. GM needs to act quickly!
