This car is the biggest piece of Sh*t ever built and GM should be ashamed of themselves for allowing hard working people to shoulder the responsibility of fixing this piece of crap when they know that this car is an absolute LEMON. This why I will only by Foreign cars,10 years 100000 miles.

It's hard to support a company that basically said the hell with you people even when they know that it should be their fix.

I will pull in and park, come out and will not start. Mech. has checked 4 separate times and it will start. Has new battery, and occurs when the day is hot and or cold. The last mechanic went through it totally and could find nothing. We have had it stored for the last 1.5 years & would like to begin driving her again but scared.

To all owners of a 2003 Olds Alero, please read. I recently had a problem starting my car. It acted as if I was out of gas. I read comments to check the anti-theft system (turn key to on, wait 10 minutes) no luck. Checked fuses and relays under the hood related to fuel. (fuse box on drivers side, under hood) Nothing. Had it towed to a garage where they had no idea....at first. Then they found a leaky water pump that caused a short on my A/C compressor that blew that A/C fuse. That 10 amp fuse just happened to control what they called the BFC (Body Function Control). Apparently, that BFC controls the flow of gas. So, save some time and money..and a tow. Check that fuse!! I think it is red in color. It is very small. The underside of the fuse panel describes all of the fuses.

Not all the time but happening more and more often, you go to start the car and nothing.

We were going to replace the starter but after reading other peoples complaints and

going home and trying the turn the car to ACC for 10 minutes and then back off and then trying to start it really worked. I'm glad we didn''t put the money out for a new started but we still would like to get it fixed. I don't want to leave my daughter stranded somewhere

Twice in the past month my car stopped functioning while I was driving it. Once was in the middle of an intersection. I had it towed twice. They put in a new Ignition Starter and a new fuel filter. Seems many other find this same problem in the 2003 Alero. My car is unreliable, dangerous, and a lemon in my opinion. With only 67,000 kilometers I should not have this problem.

This problem i am having with my car started about a week ago. The car would seem like it wants to turn over but never does. I had to eventfully get it towed to get serviced. On that Monday, the shop told us that is was the ignition modulator. We went to pick it up, and it worked. On our way home, we went to the gas station and it didn't turn over the first time, but the second time it did. To make a long story short my boyfriend and I got stranded this time, and had to get it towed again. So here we are again back a square One!!

Alero 3.2L V6

My 2003 won't start every few days in the morning. I towed it to the shop and it started right up when they let it off the tow truck. The shop couldn't find anything wrong with it. When this happens the car is not getting fuel to the engine, but it could be one of 15 different things that all cost mucho dinero. The mechanic showed me a plug on top of the engine that can be pulled right out. He said if it won't start to spray ether (sold at auto part store) in the hole for 3 sec. and replace the plug. This works every time, but if I shut the car off right away it needs spray again. So what I do is spray and than drive around my parking lot once and the car can be shut off and restarted. I don't know if this is computer related, security, ignition, water in the lines or gas draining back from the engine at night. I do know its not the fuel pump. I checked online and hundreds of people are having problems with the security feature and their car keys. What fixed your problem?

Alero GLS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

2003 Alero with 40,000 miles, only had the car for 6 months, starts right up sometimes, other times turns but takes 2-3 times to start. Seems to idle a little rough. Check engine lights is not on, so my mechanic couldn't get a repair code. suggested fuel filter and check fuel pressure to see if it could be the fuel pump, wasn't the problem and he had no idea what it could be. He said he could start guessing and changing parts but that could be costly.Anybody else with this problem or any ideas?
