Bought a 2002 Alero used without doing proper research on the car because I was starting a new job in a week and desperately needed the vehicle. Literally the second day I drove it the check engine light came on and it was the Cat. Converter. I was quoted $750 by my mechanic for parts + repair and definitely did not ave the money for the additional repair. Car still ran fine for a little bit after the light came on until it practically stopped working altogether. Car would not shift out of third gear and would just sit and rev up RPM without accelerating past about 60km/h. Finally ordered a new converter online for a little over $200 and came out to around $350 total for repair.
