Since purchasing this vehicle, it has been in the shop 5 times. The 1st time - the brakes, rotors and seal for the rear window had to be replaced. The 2nd and 3rd times - the steering column went and had to be replaced. The 4th time - the power window went (in the middle of winter) and had to be totally replaced. The 5th - the brakes and rotors had to be replaced again even though it was taken in for a strange noise not relating to brakes. Now we still have a noise which was why we put the vehicle in, in the first place. Now a totally different dealership has finally been honest and said that there is a problem with the steering and tires and that GM does not know how to resolve the problem. This dealership in New Jersey stated that 4 other Alero's were brought in for the same complaints. I spoke to Olds and they stated that they are working on the problem and that we just have to be patient and they will contact us when the defect is resolved. But until then, they are not recalling the cars and are assuring me that they are safe to drive because they would not allow their customers to drive unsafe vehicles. If anyone else has had similar problems, please e-mail me.
