99 Alero - stalls after warming up. Used to start right up right away. Noticed it would stall once in a while 3+ years ago, getting worse now. Have to wait 15-20 minutes now. Noticed just before it stalls it chimes and the battery lite comes on a split second before it dies. No codes present, no engine lite on and nothing showed up on scan by a licensed mechanic. But it wasn't acting up then and was driven for an hour an sat idling with no issues. If I don't let it cool down and try to start it and it does start, it runs rough, pops, backfires and stalls. Seems to stall when I put it in drive before the 15-20 minute time frame. I can hear the fuel pump come on and shut off every time before I start it. The last time it happened I left the hood on the safety on got it home.

Seems to me something heats up and cuts out and once it cools it starts up. Any input would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

Bought a used Alero in 2008. I have had nothing but problems since I got this car. First day I bought it I took it off the lot, went to the gas station, turned the car off, and when I went to start it back up it would not start. Called the dealership they said it was the battery. They gave me a new battery. It started for the day then the next day it would not start. Called them back and they gave me a tune -up still having the problem. Next they told me was the fuel pump. I was very upset I had just given them over 5,000 dollars for the car I did not have the money for the fuel pump. Long story short sometimes the car will not start and cut right off so I start the car again and put my feet on the gas and it stays running. Also had the problem with the security and car would not start I would have to wait about 20 minutes for that security light to go off before I could start the car again. This car is bulls***t.

Yesterday I went to the store and I come out and my car would start, but wouldn't stay running. I got it towed to a dealership and they said it has something to do with the security cylinder, which would cost me about $320. I called the dealership i got the car from and they said this has been happening a lot with the Aleros. Complete bullship! I called the GM company and I think i have them convinced to pay half of what it is going to cost me. I will never purchase a GM again and especially an Alero. I got this car over the summer for $6000 and I have had to put in about $2000 in it already. I wanted a car that was reliable not a piece of sh*t.
