I started to notice rust forming on my rear bumper of my 2014 Xterra Pro4X about a year ago. I only used my car 6 months of the year ( its in covered storage 6 mo's) and I didn't address the issue until just recently. I took it to the dealer that I bought in from in Ft Lauderdale Florida. They took pictures and emailed them off to someone, and then I had to go back again within a 2 hour window when the "head honcho" was there to inspect it in person. Two weeks later and still no answer but the service guy said it would likely be dismissed as an "environmental" issue and not covered under warranty. Its RUST!!! I live in Florida, and yes, I go to the beach because its Florida and that's what Floridians do. I bought a sport utility vehicle. Am I not supposed to take it outside? To the beach? In the rain? Expose it to the environment?? Am I not able to take it off road if I want. Its not been off road yet and its rusting already.
So,I wonder, is there another kind of rust??? Factory rust?, or perhaps storage rust. Really!!!??? The car is two years old.
I see on forums that I am not alone here. I'll never buy another Nissan.
